● India shooter Rhythm Sangwan broke a 29-year-old world record in the women's 25m pistol event at the
ongoing ISSF World Cup 2023 for rifle and pistol shooters in Baku, Azerbaijan
○ The Indian shooter, however, failed to bag a medal and could only finish eighth in the finals.
○ Rhythm Sangwan registered a score of 595 in the qualification round to better the previous world record
of 594, set by Bulgarian shooter Diana Iorgova in 1994.
○ Rhythm Sangwan also broke the junior women's 25m pistol qualification record of 593 set by Russia’s
Nino Salukvadze in 1989.
