Duas of The Prophets (‫السالم‬

ّ ‫ )عليه‬from the Qur’an

‫الر ِح ۡي ِم‬
َّ ‫الر ۡح ٰم ِن‬ ِ ‫بِ ۡس ِم‬
َّ ‫اهلل‬
Dua Of Prophet Adam (‫السالم‬
ّ ‫)عليه‬
ِ ِ ِ َّ
َ ‫سنَا َوِإن ل ْم َت ْغف ْر لَنَا َوَت ْر َح ْمنَا لَنَ ُكونَ َّن م َن ٱلْ َخـٰس ِر‬
‫ين‬ َ ‫َر َّبنَا ظَلَ ْمنَٓا َأن ُف‬
Rabbana Dhalamna Anfusana Wa Illam Taghfirlana Wa Tarhamna La Nakoonan-na Minal Khasireen

Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we will certainly be
losers. (Qur’an Surah Al A’raf 7:23)

This is the dua uttered by mankind, which was said by Prophet Adam ‫ عليه السّالم‬to ask forgiveness from
Allah ‫ سبحانه و تعالى‬after committing his first sin. Therefore, this is a helpful dua to say for istighfar (asking for
forgiveness).

Dua Of Prophet Nooh (‫السالم‬

ّ ‫)عليه‬
ِ ِ ِ ِ ِ ِ ِ ِ ‫ك ما لَي‬ َ ِ‫ب ِإنِّ ٓى َأعُوذُ ب‬
َ ‫س لى بهۦ ع ْل ٌۭم ۖ َوِإاَّل َتغْف ْـر لى َوَت ْر َح ْمن ٓى َأ ُكن ِّم َن ٱلْ َخـٰس ِر‬
‫ين‬ ْ ‫ك َأ ْن‬
َ ْ َ ‫َأسـَٔلَ َـ‬ ِّ ‫َر‬
Rabbi Inni A’oodubika An As-Alaka Ma Laysa Bihi Ilm. Wa Illa Taghfirli Wa Tarhamni Akum Minal Khasirin

My Lord, I seek refuge in You from asking You about what I have no knowledge of, and unless You forgive
me and have mercy on me, I will be one of the losers. (Qur’an Surah Hud 11:47)

This dua is a request for repentance from Noah ‫ عليه السّالم‬after he learned of Allah’s rebuke, which
contained a rejection of his request that his son Kan’an be saved from a hurricane. He asked Him for
forgiveness for his mistakes in asking for something that was not in its place. We can also use this prayer
to ask forgiveness from Allah ‫ سبحانه و تعالى‬sincerely.

‫ين ِإاَّل َتبَا ۢ ًرا‬ ِِ ِ ِ ِ ِ ِ ‫ى ولِمن َد َخل ب ْيتِى مْؤ ِم ۭنًا ولِل‬ ِ ِ ِ ِ ِّ ‫َّر‬
َ ‫ين َوٱل ُْمْؤ منَـٰت َواَل تَ ِزد ٱلظَّـٰلم‬
َ ‫ْمْؤ من‬
ُ َ ُ َ ََ َ َ َّ ‫ب ٱ ْغف ْر لى َول َٰول َد‬
Rabbigh-Firli Wali-Waaliday-Ya Waliman Dakhala Baytiya Mu’minow Walil Mu’mineena Wal Mu’minaati
Wala Tazeedid-Dhaalimeena Illa Tabaara

My Lord! Forgive me, my parents, and whoever enters my house in faith, and ˹all˺ believing men and
women. And increase the wrongdoers only in destruction. (Qur’an Surah Nuh 71:28)

ِ
‫ين‬ َ ‫ب َأن ِزلْنِى ُم َنز ۭلًا ُّمبَ َار ۭ ًكا َو‬
َ ‫َأنت َخ ْي ُر ٱل ُْمن ِزل‬ ِّ ‫َّر‬
Rabbi Anzilni Munzalam-Mubarakan Wa Anta Khayrul Munzileen

My Lord! Allow me a blessed landing, for You are the best accommodator. (Qur’an Surah Mu’minoon 23:29)

Dua Of Prophet Lut (‫السالم‬

ّ ‫)عليه‬

‫ين‬ ِِ ِ ِ
َ ‫ٱنص ْرنىـ َعلَى ٱلْ َق ْوم ٱل ُْم ْفسد‬
ُ ‫ب‬ ِّ ‫َر‬
Rabbin-surni Alal Qawmil Mufsideen

My Lord! Help me against the people of corruption. (Qur’an Surah Al-Ankabut 29:30)

This is the prayer of the Prophet Lut ‫ عليه السّالم‬to ask Allah’s help to prove what he has said to them, which
is to send down the punishment on the people who do the damage. That is, those who are disobedient
because they have committed homosexuality. Allah accepted this dua of the Prophet Lut. We can also use
this dua to ask for Allah’s ‫ سبحانه و تعالى‬help dealing with the evil people.
 Dua Of Prophet Ibrahim (‫السالم‬
ّ ‫)عليه‬

‫يم‬ ِ
ُ ‫يع ٱل َْعل‬
ِ َّ ‫َأنت‬
ُ ‫ٱلسم‬ َ ‫ك‬ َ َّ‫َر َّبنَا َت َقبَّ ْل ِمنَّٓا ۖ ِإن‬
Rabbana Taqabbal Minna Innaka Antas Samee-ul Aleem

Our Lord! Accept ˹this˺ from us. You are indeed the All-Hearing, All-Knowing. (Qur’an Surah Baqarah 2:127)

‫ٱلر ِح ُـ‬
‫يم‬ َّ ‫اب‬
ُ ‫َّو‬
َّ ‫َأنت ٱلت‬
َ ‫ك‬ َ َّ‫ب َعلَْينَٓا ۖ ِإن‬ ِ َ َّ‫ك َو ِمن ذُ ِّريَّتِنَٓا َُّأم ۭةً ُّم ْسلِ َم ۭةً ل‬
ْ ُ‫ك َوَأ ِرنَا َمنَاس َكنَا َوت‬ َ َ‫ٱج َعلْنَا ُم ْسلِ َم ْي ِن ل‬
ْ ‫َر َّبنَا َو‬
Rabbana Waj-al’na Muslimayni Laka Wamin Dhurriyatina Ummatam Muslimatal-lak, Wa Arina
Manaasikana Wa Toob-Alayna, Innaka Antat-taw-waabur Raheem

Our Lord! Make us both fully submit to You and from our descendants a nation that will submit to you.
Show us our rituals and turn to us in grace. You are truly the Accepter of Repentance, Most Merciful.
(Qur’an Surah Baqarah 2:128)

ِ ‫ٱلصلَ ٰو ِة و ِمن ذُ ِّريَّتِى ۚ ر َّبنا وَت َقبَّل دع‬

‫ٓاء‬ ِ ِ ‫ب‬
َُ ْ َ َ َ َ َّ ‫يم‬ َ ‫ٱج َعلْنىـ ُمق‬
ْ ِّ ‫َر‬
Rabbij Alni Muqeemas Salaati Wa Min Dhurriyati, Rabbana Wa Taqabbal Dua

My Lord! Make me and those ˹believers˺ of my descendants keep up prayer. Our Lord! Accept my prayers.
(Qur’an Surah Ibrahim 14:40)

‫اب‬
‫س ُـ‬ ِ ِ ِ ‫ى ولِل‬ ِِ ِ ِ
َ ‫وم ٱلْح‬
ُ ‫ين َي ْو َم َي ُق‬
َ ‫ْمْؤ من‬
ُ َ َّ ‫َر َّبنَا ٱ ْغف ْر لى َول َٰول َد‬
Rabbigh Firli Waliwaalidayya Walil Mu’mineena Yawma Yaqoomul Hisaab

Our Lord! Forgive me, my parents, and the believers on the Day when the judgment will come to pass.
(Qur’an Surah Ibrahim 14:41)

‫ين‬ ِ ِ َّ ِ‫ْح ْقنِى ب‬

ِ ‫ب هب لِى ح ْك ۭ ًما وَأل‬
َ ‫ٱلصـٰلح‬ َ ُ ْ َ ِّ ‫َر‬
Rabbi Habli Hukmaw-Wa Al-Hiqni Bis Saliheen

My Lord! Grant me wisdom and join me with the righteous. (Qur’an Surah Ash-Shu’ara 26:83)

‫ين‬ ِ ِ َّ ‫ب هب لِى ِمن‬

َ ‫ٱلصـٰلح‬ َ ْ َ ِّ ‫َر‬
Rabbi Habli Minas-Saliheen

My Lord! Bless me with righteous offspring. (Qur’an Surah Saffat 37:100)

Dua Of Prophet Sulaiman (‫السالم‬

ّ ‫)عليه‬
ِ ‫ك فِى ِعب‬
َ ِ‫ض ٰىهُ َوَأ ْد ِخلْنِى بَِر ْح َمت‬
َ ‫صـٰلِ ۭ ًحا َت ْر‬ َّ ‫ت َعلَ َّى َو َعلَ ٰى َٰولِ َد‬
َ ‫ك ٱلَّتِ ٓى َأْن َع ْم‬
َ َ‫ب َْأو ِز ْعنِ ٓى َأ ْن َأ ْش ُك َر نِ ْع َمت‬
‫اد َك‬َ َ ‫ى َوَأ ْن َأ ْع َم َل‬ ِّ ‫َر‬
‫ين‬ ِ ِ َّ
َ ‫ٱلصـٰلح‬
Rabbi Aw-zi’ni An Ashqura Ni’matakal-lati An’amta Alay-ya Wa Ala Waalidayya Wa An A’mala Saalihan
Tar-daahu Wa-Adh-khilni Birahmatika Fi Ibadakas Saliheen

My Lord! Inspire me to ˹always˺ be thankful for Your favours which You have blessed me and my parents
with, and to do good deeds that please you. Admit me, by Your mercy, into ˹the company of˺ Your
righteous servants. (Qur’an Surah An-Naml 27:19)
 Dua Of Prophet Yusuf (‫السالم‬
ّ ‫)عليه‬

۞ ‫ين‬ ِ ِ َّ ِ‫ْح ْقنِى ب‬

َ ‫ٱلصـٰلح‬ َ ْ ُ َ َ َٔ‫ٱلد ْنيَا َوٱلْـ‬
ِ
ِ ‫اخر ِةـ ۖ َتوفَّنِى مسلِ ۭ ًما وَأل‬ ُّ ‫َأنت َولِ ِّىۦ فِى‬
َ ‫ض‬ ِ ‫ٱَأْلر‬ ِ َّ ‫اطر‬
ْ ‫ٱلس َمـٰ َٰوت َو‬
ِ
َ َ‫ف‬
Faatiros Samawaati Wal-Ardi, Anta Waliyyi Fid-duniya Wal Akhirah. Tawaffani Muslimow, Wa Al-Hiqni Bis-Sabireen

My Lord! You have surely granted me authority and taught me the interpretation of dreams. O Originator of
the heavens and the earth! You are my Guardian in this world and the Hereafter. Allow me to die as one
who submits and join me with the righteous. (Qur’an Surah Al-Araf 7:23)

This is Yusuf ‫’عليه السّالم‬s prayer to Allah ‫ سبحانه و تعالى‬after the favors given to him are complete by being able
to gather him with his father, mother, and brothers, and other gifts in the form of prophethood and power
(kingdom). He begged his Lord so that the perfect favors he had received in this world would continue in
the Hereafter, and he begged Him that when he dies, he dies as Muslim. May Allah bless us all to die as
devout Muslims

Dua Of Prophet Shu’ayb (‫السالم‬

ّ ‫)عليه‬
ِِ ِ
‫ين‬
َ ‫َأنت َخ ْي ُر ٱلْ َفـٰتح‬ َ ‫َر َّبنَا ٱ ْفتَ ْح َب ْيَننَا َو َب ْي َن َق ْومنَا بِٱل‬
َ ‫ْح ِّق َو‬
Rabbanaf-tah Bayna-na Wa Bayna Qawmina Bil-haqqi, Wa Anta Khayrul Fatiheen

Our Lord! Judge between us and our people with truth. You are the best of those who judge. (Qur’an
Surah Al-Araf 7:89)

Prophet Shu’ayb ‫ عليه السّالم‬recited this prayer when he was dealing with his people who had threatened to
expel him from his country if he did not want to stop his preaching. Allah then saved the Prophet Shu’aib
and his followers and companions from polytheism. May Allah ‫ سبحانه و تعالى‬always protect us from Shirk
and always guide us to the right path.

Dua Of Prophet Ayub (‫السالم‬

ّ ‫)عليه‬

‫ٱلر ِح ِم َـ‬
‫ين‬ َ ‫سنِ َى ٱلض ُُّّر َو‬
َّٰ ‫َأنت َْأر َح ُم‬ َّ ‫ب َأنِّى َم‬
ِّ ‫َر‬
Rabbi Anni Mas-Saniyad-Durru Wa Anta Rahamur Rahimeen

I have been touched with adversity (disease/sickness), and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.
(Qur’an Surah Al-Ambiya 21:83)

As we all know, Prophet Ayub ‫ عليه السّالم‬was tested with the disappearance of all his possessions, and all
his children died, everyone stayed away from him except his wife. He was also ill for many years with a
terrible disease. However, he remained patient and steadfast in his belief in Allah ‫سبحانه و تعالى‬. In his
affliction, he asked for His mercy with this dua.

Dua Of Prophet Yunus (‫السالم‬

ّ ‫)عليه‬
ِِ ِ ُ ‫ك ِإنِّى ُك‬
َ ‫نت م َن ٱلظَّـٰلم‬
‫ين‬ َ ‫ٓاَّل ِإلَـٰهَ ِإٓاَّل‬
َ َ‫َأنت ُس ْب َحـٰن‬
La Ilaaha Illa Anta Subhanaka Inni Kuntu Minad-Dhalimeen

There is no god worthy of worship except You. Glory be to You! I have certainly done wrong. (Qur’an
Surah Al-Ambiya 21:87)

Prophet Yunus ‫ عليه السّالم‬said this dua when he was stuck in the belly of a whale. When he felt hopeless, he
turned to Allah ‫ سبحانه و تعالى‬in repentance and begged for His mercy. This prayer is also one of the prayers
that are suitable to say for istighfar and at times of hardship.
 Dua Of Prophet Moosa (‫السالم‬
ّ ‫)عليه‬

٢٨ ‫ َي ْف َق ُهو ۟ا َق ْولِى‬٢٧ ‫سانِى‬ ِّ

َ ‫ٱحلُ ْل عُ ْق َد ۭةً ِّمن ل‬
ِ ِّ ‫ وي‬٢٥ ‫ب ٱ ْشرح لِى ص ْد ِرى‬
ْ ‫ َو‬٢٦ ‫س ْر ل ٓى َْأم ِرى‬ََ َ ْ َ ِّ ‫َر‬
Rabbish Rahli Sadri, Wa Yassir-li Amri, Wahlul Uqdatam Mil-lisaani Yafqahu Qawli

My Lord! Uplift my heart for me, and make my task easy, and remove the impediment from my tongue so people
may understand my speech (Qur’an Surah Taha 20:25-28)

‫ٱلر ِح ُـ‬
‫يم‬ َّ ‫ور‬ ِ ِ ِ ُ ‫ب ِإنِّى ظَلَم‬
ُ ‫ت َن ْفسىـ فَٱ ْغف ْر لى َفغََف َر لَهۥُٓ ۚ ِإنَّهۥُ ُه َو ٱلْغَ ُف‬ ْ ِّ ‫َر‬
Rabbi Inni Dhalamtu Nafsi Fagh-firli Fa Ghafara Lahu, Innahu Huwal Ghafoorur Raheem

My Lord! I have definitely wronged my soul, so forgive me.” So He forgave him, ˹for˺ He is indeed the All-Forgiving,
Most Merciful. (Qur’an Surah Al-Qasas 28:16)

‫ْت ِإلَ َّى ِم ْن َخ ْي ۢ ٍر فَِقي ۭ ٌر‬ ِ ِّ ‫ر‬

َ ‫ب ِإنِّى ل َمٓا‬
َ ‫َأنزل‬ َ
Rabbi Inni Lima Anzalta Ilay-ya Min Khayrin Faqeer

My Lord! I am truly in desperate need of whatever provision You may have in store for me.
(Qur’an Surah Al-Qasas 28:25)

On the way from Egypt to Madyan, Moosa ‫ عليه السّالم‬came across a fountain that was crowded with people. At the
back of that fountain, he found two women who were having trouble giving water to their flocks. So Moosa ‫عليه السّالم‬
watered their flock for them. Prophet Moosa ‫ عليه السّالم‬continued to help others to get a drink while he was feeling
hungry. He then said this dua to ask Allah ‫ سبحانه و تعالى‬for help in the midst of his difficulties.

Dua of Prophet Zakariya (‫السالم‬

ّ ‫)عليه‬
ِ ‫ٱلدع‬ َ ‫ب لِى ِمن لَّ ُد‬
ِ َ َّ‫نك ذُ ِّريَّ ۭةً طَيِّبةً ۖ ِإن‬
‫ٓاء‬ َ ُّ ‫يع‬
ُ ‫ك َسم‬ َ ْ ‫ب َه‬
ِّ ‫َر‬
Rabbi Habli Mil-Ladunka Dhurriyyatan, Tayyibatan; Innaka Samee-Ud-Dua

My Lord! Grant me - by your grace - righteous offspring. You are certainly the Hearer of all prayers. (Quran Surah
Al-Imraan 3:38)

This is a dua recited by Prophet Zakariya ‫ عليه السّالم‬when he turned to Allah ‫ سبحانه و تعالى‬and asked that he may have
a child. Although he was old and his wife was barren, nothing is impossible with Allah’s mercy. This prayer teaches
us how a believer who initiates a dua and repeatedly worships Allah ‫ سبحانه و تعالى‬can grant his request.

Dua Of Prophet Isa (‫السالم‬

ّ ‫)عليه‬
ِ َّٰ ‫َأنت َخير‬ ِ ‫َأِّلولِنا وء‬
َ ‫اخ ِرنَا َو َءايَ ۭةً ِّم‬ ِ ِ َّ ‫ٱللَّه َّم ر َّبنٓا َأن ِز ْل علَينا مٓاِئ َد ۭةً ِّمن‬
َ ‫ٱلر ِزق‬
‫ين‬ ُ ْ َ ‫نك ۖ َو ْٱر ُزقْنَا َو‬ َ َ َ َّ ‫ٱلس َمٓاء تَ ُكو ُن لَنَا عي ۭ ًدا‬ َ َ َْ َ ََ ُ
Allahumma Rabbana Anzil Alayna Maa-Idatam Minas-Samaa’I Takoownu Lana Iydal-Li Awwalina Wa Akhirina Wa
Aayatam Minka. War Zuqna Wa Anta Khay-rur Raziqeen

O Allah, our Lord! Send us from heaven a table spread with food as a feast for us—the first and last of us—and as a
sign from You. Provide for us! You are indeed the Best Provider.
(Qur’an Surah Al-Ma’idah 5:114)

Dua Of Prophet Mohammed (‫)ﷺ‬

ِ ِ ِ ِ ً ‫ٱلد ْنيا ح‬ ِ ِ
َ ‫سنَ ۭةً َوقنَا َع َذ‬
‫اب ٱلنَّا ِر‬ َ َ َ ُّ ‫َر َّبنَٓا َءاتنَا فى‬
َ ‫سنَ ۭة َوفى ٱلْـَٔاخ َرة َح‬
Rabbana A’tina Fid Duniya Hasanataw, Wa Fil Akhirati Hasanataw Wa Kina Adhaaban Naar

Our Lord! Grant us the good of this world and the Hereafter and protect us from the torment of the Fire.
(Qur’an Surah Al Baqarah 2:201)
