Circular Motion: applications

Instructions: Answer in teams the following problems, only one document with your
names will be uploaded in Canvas.

1. A 550 g ball spins around a conical pendulum with a 0.75 m string that makes a 20º
with the vertical describing a circle with constant speed. Calculate the tension in the
string, the acceleration, linear and angular velocity and the period of the ball.
2. Flat unbanked curve. A car is taking an unbanked curve (r= 70 m) at 50 km/h. Calculate
the μs between the tires and the surface of the road.
3. Some Japanese manufacturers agreed to limit the maximum speed for motorcycles at
300 km/h. If a motorcyclist who travels at that speed enter a curve (r = 230 m).
Calculate the angle of the bank that avoids sliding considering a frictionless surface.
