What's New in MineScape 5.7

New Plugin
The MineScape Pit Optimization plugin is new to MineScape 5.7. The MineScape Pit Optimization
plugin provides mining engineers with a simple easy to use solution to delineate an ultimate economic
pit shell. The Pit Optimization plugin utilises the power of the MineScape Core and Block Model
plugins while directly accessing block models to simplify the pit optimization process.
The MineScape Pit Optimization plugin has a simple easy to use form interface by which to supply
input parameters. The results are written directly to a block model and are available for visualisation in
CAD, interrogation and reserve calculations.

Integrated with MineScape Block model and MineScape's mine planning system.
Multiple elements and processes are supported.
Multiple slope regions.
Variable mining and processing costs are supported.
Generation of nested pits for push back design
3D visualisation of blocks and triangulated pit shells.
Results are immediately available for mine design, reserve calculations and visualisation in CAD.

Dragline
The Graphics from Tag Points option has been added to the Plotting menu. This new option outputs
graphics from a list of nominated dragline sections, a nominated dragline block, and a list of nominated
tag points. Lines or point strings can be output to the current write layer based on user-nominated
commonly tagged points.

Core
Toolbars
The Lasso Selection icon is now only displayed and available while the MineScape Core plugin is
loaded.
The Current Design Attributes toolbar has been added. This toolbar displays the current design
attributes, such as the current object colour, line style, line weight and marker type, for new elements
created in the CAD window. The toolbar can also be used to change the current design attributes.
The Esc and Q keys can now be used to exit when rotating data using [Ctrl] + A.

This section lists all of the bug fixes and corrections delivered through MineScape 5.7.

Design File Server

MineScape 5.7 now allows for a maximum of 508 connections to the design file server. Exceeding this
limit will result in performance issues and will prevent you from successfully using MineScape
functionality. A message will be displayed when the connection limit has been exceeded, and you will
be asked to exit MineScape and contact your local system administrator for assistance. Before exiting
the current session, it is recommended that you close any table and triangle files that are currently

Memory Leak Corrections

Numerous performance and memory improvements have been made across MineScape 5.7.
These key areas include:
the CAD environment,
the Explorer tree,
on screen graphics, forms and several mining options.
These improvements target product stability, performance and efficient memory usage.

Navigation Bar
The Explorer section flickers briefly when using the check box to load a triangle set. #31078
The right-click Edit option is still available even after deleting the edited layer. #31128
Unable to import multiple design file layers into a triangulation file using the right-click Import option.

The resulting dump file is created with an incorrect file name when exporting a grid file. This issue only
occurs when the length of the grid file name (excluding the file extension) exceeds 70 characters.

An overwrite file confirmation prompt is not displayed when exporting a grid file to an existing dump
file. A prompt asking to confirm the file selection should be displayed. #30409
The resulting grid file is created with an incorrect file name when importing from a dump file. This issue
only occurs when the length of the grid file name (including the file extension) referenced within the
dump file exceeds 74 characters. #30410
The CAD window and Explorer section are reset and cleared after loading a triangle file into a new
CAD window. This issue only occurs when the original CAD window contains a loaded triangle file.

The following system requirements are recommended for MineScape servers:

Hard Disk Up to 42 MB of free disk space for the MineScape 5.7 ‘Server’ installation.
Up to 20 MB of free disk space for the MineScape License Server installation.
Additional disk space will be required for project files and databases. RAID 5 is
recommended for increased performance and reliability.

Network 2 x Ethernet 100/1000 BaseT.

Interface
Virtual A virtual machine does not support Direct3D video acceleration. MineScape's
Machine licensing environment does not support this scenario.

Note: The MineScape GDB plugin does not support the Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 operating
system.

Note: A Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 installer is included with the MineScape 5.7 installation
package. An existing Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 installation must be found on your system in
order to successfully install MineScape 5.7. If a Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 installation is not
present on your system, you will be prompted to install it.

Oracle
Oracle Enterprise, Standard Edition or Personal Edition database (32-bit only) is required for the
MineScape GDB plugin.
Minimum - Oracle 9i 32-bit
Recommended - Oracle 11g 32 bit
Note: Up to 2 GB of free disk space is required for the Oracle installation. Additional disk space will be
required for database files.

Java
A Java virtual machine needs to be loaded in order to install the MineScape License Server. The Java
Runtime Environment version 5.0 is also required by the MineScape GDB reporting system. Java
Runtime version 7.0 can be installed when installing the MineScape Client. The latest Java Runtime
Environment can be downloaded from the official Java website:

Adobe Reader
Adobe Reader version 10 is recommended for plotting within MineScape 5.7. Newer Adobe Reader
drivers, such as version 11, have not been tested against MineScape 5.7 and may produce
undesirable results.
