Topic 4: IT systems
A theatre uses a computerised booking system to keep records of customers, plays and
bookings.
A customer may make a booking in person, by telephone or by preprinted form.
The booking clerk first has to check whether there are any seats free for the
performance.
If there are, the clerk reserves the seats, then checks whether the customer’s details are
already on file.
If not, the clerk types them in.
The tickets are then printed out and handed or sent to the customer.
Payment is either in cash or by credit card.
3. Choose one part of the theatre computerised booking system. Draw a flowchart to
show how this part of the system will work.
4. Create an idea for a new computer game. Decompose your idea down into its
subprograms and draw a structure diagram to show the design for your game.
