Statement of understanding for financial requirements.

I understand that the Exchange Visitor program is a cultural exchange program and not primarily a
money making program.

I understand and confirm that I have the financial resources to pay the program fees and costs
outlined in the Fee Transparency Agreement and that failure to pay the annual program and
insurance fees by the due date will result in the cancelation of my application / program.

GEC has informed me that I will probably have to wait two weeks after my arrival date to apply for a
Social Security Card, and that it may take at least another 2-4 before I receive my Social Security
Number. I know that I may possibly not be allowed to work during this time and may not have any
income during 6 - 10 weeks after I arrive. Therefore, I must be financially able to cover my expenses
and I am responsible for and required to have or bring additional funds, i.e., ‘’at least’’ $7,500 for
myself and at least $1,500 for each of my dependents (if applicable) to cover expenses such as
housing and transportation arrangements, food, utilities, health services, teaching license etc.

I acknowledge and confirm GEC has informed me that each state may have different requirements
for teacher licensure and I may incur additional costs for the teaching license of the state in which I
will be teaching, including a new FCE, licensing exam fees, courses, or additional college credits etc.

I further understand and agree that I may not borrow funds from my host school or others. If I am
unable to cover my personal expenses or borrow heavily from hosts or others during the program, I
will be subject to possible program dismissal, repatriation, and sponsorship termination.
