1. Go to https://ibm.box.com/s/0fbp00d990ltbcku20596p0nqm4zxq7q

2. Create a temporal directory BIGFIX on C:\ and then download the previous content there.

2 Remove old versions of

Bigfix agent
In this step you MUST completely remove the Bigfix agent from Windows.

2.1 The easy way

1. From the C:\BIGFIX directory run the BESRemove9.2.18.19.exe file.

2. Select Remove All button

3. Select OK button

4. If the removing process goes well, you will see this message:

Go to Section3 if you successfully remove the Bigfix client

5. If the removing process fails, then you must go to the section 2.2 (The Hard Way)

2.2 The hard way

In this STEP you must manually remove the Bigfix Agent from Windows, this usually happens when the
Windows Server is slow, has performance issues or even has issues with WMI process.

1. Run the Command Prompt as Run As Administrator

2. Run the command net stop besclient

If you cannot stop the service, you can kill the process with taskkill or RESTART de server.

3. Remove the Bigfix client from the Add or Remove Programs:

4. Run the regedit tool.

5. Remove the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Bigfix and

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Bigfix

6. Remove the directory C:\Program Files (x86)\BigFix Enterprise and

C:\Program Files\BigFix Enterprise

7. From the C:\BIGFIX directory run the BESRemove9.2.18.19.exe

8. Select Remove All button.

3 Configure clientsettings.cfg
file
You MUST configure the clientsettings.cfg file, the parameters of this file depend on the customer and
the Relay they belong to.

4 Install Bigfix agent

4.1 Connectivity
Before installing the Bigfix Client you must ensure that connectivity to the specified Relay is open on
the port 52311 (TCP/UDP):

4.2 Installing
1. From the C:\BIGFIX directory run the BigFix-BES-Client-9.2.18.19.exe file.

2. Always select English (United States) and then select OK button.

3. Select Next button.

5. Select Install button.

6. Select Finish button.

7. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\BigFix Enterprise\BES Client\__BESData\__Global\Logs

8. Open the log file and check if there is line that contains “registered”, that means the bigfix cliente
has successfully connected to its relay.

9. Bigfix is GOING to take between one, two, three or four hours to synchronize all the content
from Bigfix Server.

It means that you can run a fixlet before the full sync.

If a computer successfully synchronized to the Bigfix Server You will noticed that computer has
a lot of fixlet available:
