Who is Wiz Khalifa?


Cameron Jibril Thomaz, known in the art world as Wiz Khalifa was born in Minot, North Dakota on
September 8, 1987 to a mother and father who served in the military. His parents divorced when
Khalifa was about three years old. His father's military service made him move regularly. Khalifa
has lived in Germany, the UK and Japan before settling in Pittsburgh, where he attended Taylor
Allderdice High School.

How did he become famous?


He became famous in 2011 for the album Rolling Papers, which earned him Best New Artist
awards at the 2011 BET Awards and 2012 Billboard Music Awards, thanks to the singles "Black and
Yellow", "No Sleep" and "Roll Up."

He has won 12 awards which are: Billboard Music Award for Best New Artist in 2012, NRJ Music

Khalifa is an Arabic word meaning successor or wisdom and was shortened to Wiz early in his
career. Khalifa also stated that when he was younger he was good at everything and was called
"Young Wiz".

Khalifa started very young. He decided that he wanted to rap at the age of 8, and has been rapping
since he was 15.

He got his stage name tattooed when he turned 17.

Khalifa said that he spends up to $10,000 a month on weed and that he smokes every day.
