To Whom It May Concern 17 March 2023

Owner Name : Mahadzir Shariff

Pet name : Suki

Species : Feline

Breed : Bengal

Sex : Female

Age: 3 years

Suki is a female Bengal cat that first presented to Kota Damansara Veterinary Clinic on 5 January 2023 for signs of laboured
breathing. Thoracic radiographs revealed a diffuse severe bronchial pattern and was diagnosed as feline allergic airway
disease or feline asthma. She was subsequently placed on parenteral bronchodilators, steroids and antibioitics while being
hospitalised in an oxygen chamber for two nights. Her respiration appeared to improve over the next days and was given oral
prednisolone at a dose rate of 1mg/kg tapering course while transitioning to an inhaled corticosteroid (fluticasone) and
bronchodilator (salbutamol).

On 13 March she presented to the clinic for signs of laboured breathing and open mouth breathing. Her owner has been
administering the inhaled drugs as above daily, but it was noted that Suki does gets very stressed after this on a regular
basis and was brought in for observation and further investigation/treatment. Repeat radiographs did not show any significant
improvement or worsening of the bronchial lung pattern, indicating that treatment may have been insufficient to control her
respiratory signs.

During her stay in hospital, she was started on oral prednisolone (1mg/kg) and oral terbutaline using low stress handling to
avoid a further respiratory crisis. She was doing reasonably well in the first 24 hours, with less laboured breathing and having
a good appetite for her food. On the morning of 15 March 2023, during morning treatments, she was observed to be
dyspnoeic after bringing her out to take her weight. She became extremely agitated, and proceeded to respiratory crisis.
She was brought immediately to our ICU area for oxygen therapy. She went into cardiac and respiratory arrest shortly after.
An endotracheal tube was inserted and CPR was commenced with intravenous atropine and adrenaline being administered
to stimulate her her heart and emergency fluid bolusing.

Unfortunately, after 7 minutes of unsuccessful resuscitation, Suki was pronounced dead at approximately 10.35am. The
cause of death is presumed to be acute respiratory distress caused by severe and unresolved feline asthma.

Thank you.
