2. REQUIREMENTS
2.1 Rubber, Polychloroprene ordered as per 5460 003 S shall comply with the data given in this
standard and the relevant Bharat Electronics drawings for moulded and extruded parts.
2.2 Governing Specification
The material shall comply with the requirements of SAE-AMS-R-6855A, Class 2, Type-B,
(Petroleum oil, weather and ozone resistant with low ozone concentration) except as modified
herein. The modification is that the requirement for “low temperature resistance” property is
measured at -40°C instead of at -55°C as specified in the AMS-R-6855A.
2.3 The material shall principally consist of a vulcanised polychloroprene polymer and shall not
contain any natural rubber, reclaimed or ground vulcanised waste. All ingredients of the mix
shall be free from grit and extraneous materials. The rubber material shall have no adverse
effect on the finished surfaces of wood, metal or cloth with which it may come in contact.
2.3.1 The rubber grades (hardnesses) shall be as per Table-1.
2.3.2 The end products shall be free from voids, pin holes, flash, cracks and other surface
imperfections and shall be supplied in black colour unless otherwise specified.
2.3.3 Dimensions and tolerances for different forms or shapes shall be as per the part drawing.
2.4 Packing and Marking - The end products shall be treated with proper dusting powder and
wrapped individually in paper or plastic film and supplied suitably packed to avoid damage
during transit and storage. Each packing shall be marked with the manufacturer’s name, class,
type, grade, (hardness), the date of manufacture and nett mass.
2.5 Certificate - The test certificate indicating the various properties shall be provided by the
supplier wherever possible, along with each consignment.
2.6 Lot Inspection - The end products shall be inspected for hardness, tensile strength, elongation
under standard condition, % compression set after accelerated ageing, change in hardness and
change in volume after oil immersion and ozone resistance as per Technical Data, to the extent
possible, before accepting the lot. For number of tests, specimens, etc. refer Table X of
AMS-R-6855A.

AND EXTRUDED PARTS.
2.7 Storage Precaution - The end products shall be stored duly applying dusting powder
(eg.Chalk Powder) on the entire outside area of the moulded and extruded parts. It shall be
stored in such a way that the entire length get supported in order to avoid deformation (Refer
PS 980).
3. APPLICATION
This material is suitable for moulded and extruded parts requiring resistance to petroleum base
lubricants, weather and low ozone concentration.
