We are sure that your stay at Vila Palas will make you, at least for a short time, feel its fairy tale, relax
and enjoy the ambiance it provides. Vila Palas is a protected cultural property of Serbia, classified among
the most significant castles in Serbia.

The history of Vila Palas

Vila Palas in Vrnjačka Banja, an immovable cultural property under the protection of the cultural
heritage of Serbia, is located in the heart of the city, at Miloša Obilića Street 9 and was built between
1924 and 1926 for Natalija Petrović, nicknamed Talka. Natalija's husband was the prefect of
Smederevska Palanka before World War I and participated in the battles during the war together with
their eldest son; after the retreat of the Serbian army through Albania (November-December 1915), he
arrived in Algeria, where he died near the end of the war.

After the war, Talka bought a plot of land on which one of the largest buildings in the area was built, a
guesthouse with 15 rooms, a large terrace, a large kitchen and a restaurant. Vila Palas is the project of
an engineer from Vrnjačka Banja who was a "White Russian", Gamalejev, inspired by a postcard from
Algeria: he designed Vila Palas in the spirit of neoclassicism typical of the French colonies in North Africa;
the works were performed by the contractor Ilija Stojanović. This building, with a rectangular floor plan
and an academic design, is characterized by symmetry, which is emphasized by the two lateral
projections on the main facade. Symmetry is also emphasized by architectural elements such as
semicircular openings on the ground floor that match the rectangular openings on the second floor. The
brick walls rest on a stone base. The facade is in an elegant yellow color, and the whole monumental
building is reminiscent of hotels and guesthouses in Opatija.

The two lateral avant-corps have semicircular first-floor balconies with wrought-iron balustrades; other
decorative elements from that period have been preserved, such as the molded roof cornice. Many
famous people have stayed in this guesthouse, the most famous of which is the actress Žanka Stokić
(1887-1947), often considered the "Serbian Sarah Bernard".

with its beautiful villas and aristocratic style, rivaled the most beautiful and best spas in Europe.

Serbian history and guardians of the Orthodox Christian faith, there are monasteries: Žiča, Studenica,
