BA (Hons) Acting
Level 6
INSERT STUDENT NAME
What is a portfolio?
Your portfolio is an ongoing documentation of your progress, evidencing your understanding, and recording
the development, of your skills. You’re encouraged to keep notes throughout your training (in whatever format
you prefer; written, audio voicenotes or video diaries, etc.) and use your portfolio as a way to reflect on
projects, observing the growth of your own technical and intellectual skills. The completion of your portfolio
demonstrates an ability to work autonomously, incorporating independent research and the application of skills
acquired across your modules.

How to use this submission template

You can use this document throughout the year, adding to various sections and adapting it as you go.
Alternatively, you might prefer to transfer the notes you’ve taken during your level of study and complete the
submission once the majority of your modules are complete. The choice is yours.

When uploading this document, please amend the file name (‘Save A Copy/Save As’) to include your FISRT
NAME and SURNAME.

Does my portfolio have to be written?

No. Your portfolio is a collation of coursework gathered throughout the year. You might choose to document
your progress for one project as an audio diary, a video documentary for another and a written account for the
next. You’re able to select the best format for you to evaluate and reflect on your progress and development.

If you do choose to select to make a written submission, use LIPA’s LRC (Learning Resources Centre)
website to provide guidance, as well as its Learning Services Study Guide for instructions to make referencing
and bibliographies simple, easy and clear.

All submission guidelines, including word counts and audio/recorded durations, are informed by LJMU’s
Curriculum Design Guide, according to credit value and module assessment weight.

Who should I speak with about my portfolio?

Your first port of call will be your Level Leader and Learning Guidance Tutor (LGT), but Module Lecturers will
also be able to provide guidance, as well as your Course Leader. It’s also useful to chat through your portfolio
collation with your classmates and students on other levels of study. You will have the opportunity to speak
with your LGT about the progress of your coursework portfolio throughout the teaching year.
