1. INTRODUCTION
The SICom program works with the Windows® Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10 operating
system and can be used to gain access to all of the relays inf ormation, to modify the settings and
to save events using a graphic user interf ace.
The main operations that can be carried out using the SICom program are as f ollows:
• General data reading: Complete model, Version, Serial number, etc.
• States reading
• Measurements reading
• Reading and changing settings
• Reading and changing conf iguration
• Reading and deleting events
• Reading and deleting f ault reports
• Reading and deleting demand current (load data prof iling)
• Reading and saving oscillographic records in Comtrade f ormat
• Changing the user passwords
• Saving and Loading settings f iles
• Saving and Loading conf iguration f iles
• Saving events and f ault reports
• Saving demand current (load data prof iling)
• Date-time synchronization
• Conf iguring the communication parameters
• Reading and changing counters
• Commands f or opening and closing the circuit breaker and block/unblock the recloser
• Conf iguration of the inputs
• Conf iguration of the outputs
• Conf iguration of the causes that start a Fault Report

2. HOW TO INSTALL SICOM SOFTWARE
To install the SICom it is necessary the f ollowing link:
http://f anox.blob.core.windows.net/sicom/publish.htm
The link will open the next screen, where key “install” must be pressed:

Once it is pressed INSTALL, the SICOM will be installed automatically. Following this advice, the update of the sof tware does not require any user´s action,
this is, if the SICOM is run being the laptop connected to Internet, The SICOM updates itself when it is started. Besides, the necessary drivers depending on
the operative system can be downloaded f rom this page.

Offline mode is also available to prepare the settings and configuration files without having the relay connected to the lapt op, reducing engineering and
commissioning time.

www.f anox.com Rev.08 5/163

3. HOW TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE COMPUTER
It is possible to connect with the SICOM through the f ront local port or through the rear ethernet port if it is available in the relay.
SICom program uses Modbus (RTU or TCP/IP) protocol, so only the ports with this protocol can be used to establish the communication.
Follow the next steps to start the session:
• Connect the relay to the PC through a port that uses Modbus RTU protocol (depending on the relay this port can be USB, RS232, RS485, RJ45
(ethernet) or WiFi).
• Open the SICom previously installed and press START. The f ollowing screen will appear:

www.f anox.com Rev.08 6/163

3.1. Communication through local front port (USB or RS232):
All Fanox relays can communicate with the SICOM through the local f ront port. Once the relay is switched on, connect it to the laptop through a USB or RS232
cable, depending on the available f ront port in the relay.

1. Select the option “Wired RS232/USB” option:

www.f anox.com Rev.08 7/163

2. Check the associated “COM” to the used port. To check it, “Device manager→Ports (COM and LPT)”:

3. Set the associated “COM” in the SICOM option called “Select a port”. If only one port is connected to the laptop, the SICOM will recognize it automatically:

www.f anox.com Rev.08 8/163

www.f anox.com Rev.08 9/163
4. Check the “Local communication slave address” in the relay and set it in “Modbus address” of the SICOM. By def ault, this address is set to “1”, but the
user can change it f rom 1 to 254:

www.f anox.com Rev.08 10/163

3.2. Communication through remote ethernet port (RJ45):
If the relay is provided with Ethernet communication port and Modbus TCP/IP protocol associated to it, it is possible to use it to communicate with the SICOM.
Once the relay is switched on, connect the Ethernet port f rom the relay to the laptop (point to point).

1. Select in the SICOM the option “Wired Ethernet”

www.f anox.com Rev.08 11/163

1. Check in relay HMI in “GENERAL SETTINGS→Rear TCP COM” menu the set protocol. It is necessary to have it set to MODBUS TCP to
communicate with the SICOM (if you need to change the protocol to set it to Modbus TCP, af ter changing it, switch the relay o f f and switch it on
again). Go down in this menu and check the IP address

2. Check the IP address set in the relay f or this Modbus TCP protocol and set it in the relay (this IP can be set by the user) and keep the TCP port to 502.

www.f anox.com Rev.08 12/163

3. Ensure, the laptop settings f or the ethernet port are in the same segmented network of the relay. To check it:

Go to “Control panel→ Network and Sharing Center → Change adapter settings” (on the lef t menu)

Right click on the Ethernet port you are using (the one that is connected to the relay) and click on properties (last option):

Double click on Internet protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4):

www.f anox.com Rev.08 13/163

www.f anox.com Rev.08 14/163
Set the IP of the relay changing the last bits, f or example:

NOTE: It is possible to change the IP address of the relay directly to the same segmented network of the laptop (avoiding the steps described in this
point 3), if it is known.

www.f anox.com Rev.08 15/163

5. Check in relay HMI in “GENERAL SETTINGS→MODBUS TCP” menu, the slave address. By def ault this address is 2 (going down in this menu you can
check the port that will be 502). You need to set this address in “Modbus address” of the SICOM. By def ault, this address is set to “2”, but the user can
change it f rom 1 to 254:

www.f anox.com Rev.08 16/163

3.3. Communication through WiFi:
If the relay is provided with wireless communication, it is possible to use it to communicate with the SICOM.
Once the relay is switched on, connect to the relay WiFi the Ethernet port f rom the relay to the laptop (point to point).

1. Select in the SICOM the option “Wired Ethernet”

www.f anox.com Rev.08 17/163

2. Check in relay HMI in “GENERAL SETTINGS→WIFI COM” the IP address and the port that will be 502:

www.f anox.com Rev.08 18/163

3. Ensure, the laptop settings f or the WIFI port are in the same segmented network of the relay. To check it:

Go to “Control panel→ Network and Sharing Center → Change adapter settings” (on the lef t menu)

Right click on the WIFI port you are using (the one that is connected to the relay) and click on properties (last option):

www.f anox.com Rev.08 19/163

Double click on Internet protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4):

Set the IP of the relay changing the last bits, f or example:

www.f anox.com Rev.08 20/163

NOTE: It is possible to change the IP address of the relay directly to the same segmented network of the laptop (avoiding the steps described in this
point 3), if it is known.
4. Check in relay HMI in “GENERAL SETTINGS→WIFI COM” the Slave address that by def ault is 1 (although the user can change it f rom 1 to 247):

www.f anox.com Rev.08 21/163

:

www.f anox.com Rev.08 22/163

4. PASSWORD TO START THE SESSION

The password will be dif f erent depending on the relay. By def ault it is:

For SIA f amily the def ault password is 5555

For SIL and SIR f amily the password is: Fanox/5555
In any case, it can be changed by the user.
Set the corresponding password (depending on the used relay) and press OK to start the session:

Once the session is correctly started, the f ollowing screen will be open:

www.f anox.com Rev.08 23/163

• If there is some parameter wrong selected, a message will appear inf orming about it, and the session will not start.

www.f anox.com Rev.08 24/163

At the moment, it is not possible to work of fline; this is, without being connected to the relay.

www.f anox.com Rev.08 25/163

5. WHAT IS SHOWN IN MAIN SCREEN
The main screen is divided in dif f erent parts:
On the top of the screen all the dif f erent options of the relay are displayed.
