I study Psychology with Criminology at the
University of Brighton, and before that I studied a
Foundation Certificate at the international college.

I've always wanted to come to Britain, and to

study here. Without the college I wouldn't be
here because I couldn't take A-levels in my home
country. It was a bit scary before I came, this is
a different country, these are different people
and I'll have to speak another language. The
staff give a lot of advice, and every time you
feel nervous, there is always someone there.
It's not even someone specific, you can really
ask anyone. I think I adapted really quickly.

My parents came with me and stayed for the first
20 days, and I think I cried when they left! My father
always tries to make me feel independent, because
the world can be tough and I need to learn to be
self-sufficient. They were amazingly supportive.

Brighton now feels like home. Whenever I go

somewhere else, eventually I feel like I want to
come back. I've adapted to being here, and I know
people here. My family come to visit, so I feel like
I am supposed to be here. My favourite place
in Brighton is the North Laine. It's just amazing,
the food, the people... the city as a whole is so
friendly, but I really love North Laine. I like vintage
things, and you can find 70s and 80s stuff there.

The tutors and everyone at the college have been so

helpful. My course was useful too, especially when it
came to referencing in reports. Most students, when
they start university, are worried about that because
they don't know how to reference properly!
I really felt prepared when I started my degree.

This is my path so far.
