1. Create a new Blank document in Word.

On the top of the page type “Hey, this is my first document in Word 2016!”.

Go to the Backstage view and Save it under the name “first document” wherever you prefer
on your computer.

Open the Backstage view, and click on Save.

Choose This PC to set a directory from your computer. Notice you could directly save your
document on OneDrive or somewhere else more precisely, after clicking on Browse.

As Word suggests, enter your file name in


the indicated field

Pay attention to the fact you are saving this file in *.docx format. If you open that list, you
will see other formats available, such as Plain text, *.pdf and so on.

This is how this field will look like after you type “first document”.

Simply click on Save.

Close Word. Ok, Open Word again and now open the file named “first document”.

After you close Word and re-open it, go to the File tab, press Open and
then click on the file you would like to open. Hooray! The task is
completed.

2. Move the Quick Access Toolbar below the ribbon. If it was already below the Ribbon (highly
unlikely), move it above.

3. Add the Insert Picture command to the Quick Access Toolbar. Then, remove it from the
Quick Access Toolbar

Again, open the Backstage view.

Press Options.

The Word Options window will show up. Select the Quick Access
Toolbar on the left panel, as indicated.

Scroll down the left menu, click on Insert Picture.


Press Add.

If you wish to remove any of the commands on the right, you can do so
by pressing the Remove button in the center of the window. Otherwise,
when satisfied with the selection of commands, press “OK”.

Now, you are supposed to see the Insert Picture command in the Quick Access Toolbar.

!!! Do not forget that once the command has been inserted in your Quick Access Toolbar, you
can use the Alt+4 keyboard combination to apply the command !!!

Then, remove it from the Quick Access Toolbar.

Right click on the respective icon and select Remove from Quick Access Toolbar.
The Insert Picture option will be removed.

Finally, bring it up in another way (it was NOT mentioned in the lecture!).

Another way to add commands to the Quick Access Toolbar is clicking with the right button
of the mouse on the icon of interest and then selecting Add to Quick Access Toolbar.
