● What is Bonsai?

● Bonsai styles :-
1) Formal upright :- Trunk is straight and evenly tapered.
2) Informal upright :- Gently curved trunk.
3) Broom :- Branches are fanning out from the top of a straight trunk and it is the
most liked style.
4) Slanting :- Leans to a definite angle due to insufficient amount of sunlight.
5) Semi cascade :- The lowest branch can only grow till the base of the pot.
6) Cascade :- The branches go below the base of the pot.
7) Clump :- All the branches are connected at soil level.
8) Forest :- Many trees with gaps like forests.
9) Literati / Bunjin
10) Root over rock :- Like the trees which grow in the river bank.
11) Windswept :- Tree looks as if wind is blending the branches and it is one of the
hardest styles to create and be successful.
12) Root on rock :- Here the rocks become the pot.
● Types :- 1) Tropical
2) Evergreen, deciduous .

● The five main Bonsai styles :-
1) Formal upright :- Trees with vertical trunk and branches in fairly horizontal
position.
2) Informal upright :- Trunk bends towards right or left but not towards the
viewers side.
3) Slanting / windswept :- Trunks bend to a definite angle due to wind or
absence of sunlight in their place.
