Setup
1. Separate the cards into Mrs Pip's orange grove
deck and Mr Tang's lemon grove deck. Give one
deck to each player. Mrs Pip is the start player.
‘There is no first-player advantage.
2. Each player shuffles their respective deck and
creates a face-down draw pile.
8. Give each player 8 eight-sided dice oftheir own
colour (orange for Mrs Pip and yellow for Mr Tang).
4, The game is played in two separate groves. The
‘space in front of the Mrs Pip player's deck
represents their orange grove. The space in front of
the Mr Tang player's deck represents their lemon.
grove,
5. Atthe start of the game, player's draw two cards
{rom the top of their own deck These cards should
remain hidden from their neighbor.
Gameplay
‘The Mrs Pip player begins by cultivating their orange
‘grove, by playing one of their two cards face-up in
front of them. The Mr Tang player follows by
cuttivating their lemon grove, by playing one of their
‘wo cards face-up in font of them.
Each time a player places a card, they must draw
‘one card from their deck, back up to the hand limit of
two,
Each round, starting with Mrs Pip, players play one card
each. Players will aivays play a card in the opposite grove
to which they last played. In this way, each round player's
altemate between cultivating their own grove and
sabotaging their neighbor’s grove.
For example, in round two, the Mrs Pip player will sabotage
Mr Tang. They play one of their two cards face-up into Mr
‘Tang's lemon grove. The Mr Tang player then follows by
sabotaging Mrs Pip. They play one of their two cards face-
Up into Mrs Pip's orange grove.
Each grove card features 1 x water sprinkler, 3x the
player's frut trees and 2 x the neighbor's fruit trees.
From round two onwards, whenever playing a card, players
‘must cover up at least one fruit tree, but no more than three
fruit trees. Players should aim to mostly cover their
neighbors fruit trees, not their own. Players may not cover
any sprinkler with another card
Players may rotate the card 180 degrees or 90 degrees
(either way) before playing it.
Whenever a card is played, place a matching colored dice
‘on top of the newly-deployed sprinkler. Count how many of
the current player's fruit trees directly surround this
sprinkler (your neighbor's trees do not count) Set the face-
up dice value to this number.
Each time a card is played, which covers the opposing
player's fruit tree(s), check to see whether any surrounding
sprinklers (belonging to either player) have gained or lost,
fruit trees. If they have, adjust each dice value as,
necessary. Remember, only a yellow sprinkler waters
lemons and only an orange sprinkler waters oranges. It
there are no matching fruit trees around a player's sprinkler,
then remove this dice from play until there is at least one
‘matching fruit tree.
‘When players have two cards remaining, this signffes the
last round of the game. Discard the remaining card face-
down.
Scoring
Once both player have each played a total of eight cards,
they then tally how many dice pips are showing on their
sprinklers (both in their own grove and in theic neighbor's),
The player with the highest score isthe winner.
In the case of a tie, the player with the highest -numbered
dice value wins. If itis still a tie, the player with the next
highest dice value wins, and so on.| | |
