When technical assistance is needed, please contact ONL Y the constr uctor's Customer
Service or authorized centers and ask f or original spare par ts.

Sealed mechanical or machine parts must absolutely not be tampered.

Such operations would cause opening of protections, access to inner spaces and set-up
variations: this would create situations of danger.

In order to guarantee machine efficiency and correct functioning it is absolutely necessary

to follow the instructions on Cleaning operations and ordinary maintenance provided by the
constructor and contained in this catalogue.

Cleaning and ordinary maintenance operations have to be carried out by duly trained and
authorized personnel.

CHAPTER 2: MACHINE TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION

2.1 General description

CPS weighing sorting machines have been designed for being installed afterwards any kind
of packaging system achieving an effective weight checking on single packages and also
ensuring the data recording on the lots or on the total production.
After having set the tolerance limits, the single weighted packages that result out of tolerance
are expelled in correspondence of the proper station.
The use of the integrated Metal Detector permits checking that there aren't any packages
containing product polluted b y metals. The packages that should result contaminated b y
metals will be expelled in corrispondence of the proper station and collected in a locked
container.

The package, arriving on the conveyor belt (Fig. 2-1 Detail 1), is soon checked by the Metal
Detector (Fig. 2-1 Detail 4) and if it results polluted by metals then it's expelled by an air blow
ejector (Fig. 2-1 Detail 5).
The package that gets over the Metal Detector checking keeps on its run arriving on the
weighing plane (Fig. 2-1 Part. 2).
Here its weight is checked and compared with the set tolerances.
If the weight results within tolerance the package moves on the conveyor belt (Fig. 2-1 Part.
3) proceeding towards the others phases of packaging process.
In case it results out of the set tolerance limits it is expelled by a second air blow ejector (Fig.
2-1 Detail 7).
Simultaneously the weight value and others data useful to the processing are displayed on
the screen (Fig. 2-1 Detail 6).
The lighting of the lamp (Fig. 2-1 Detail 8) shows that a weight-out-of-tolerance package has
been noticed and that the weighing machine is intervened to expell the package itself.

8.3 Cleaning and disinfection

ATTENTION: All c leaning operations m ust be carried out with the mac hine off. Cut
off the electrical supply, putting the sectioning device of the electrical control panel
in the OFF "0" position, blocking it with the lock.

The mobile parts of the machine should be cleaned in oder to keep its efficient running.
- It is advisable to clean the machine frequently, in order to get ird of the possible product piled
up on the weighing plane which may distort the weighing values during the checking. Such
operation has to be carried out whenever it is necessary to remove the product accidentally
left on the weighing plane. Considering the balance sensitivity, it is advisable to clean the
machine weekly even if there aren't evident heaps. Clean the machine by means of
compressed air and dry cloths. Remove also the eventual product scraps fallen on the floor
in order to avoid they get stuck under the machine frame or electric cabinet.
- Keep the area where the loading cell (Fig.8-2 Detail 1) is installed well clean to ensure that
the weighing concerns exclusively the package to be checked. Often in fact, possible weight
inexactness about the checked packages can be caused by product fragments that go on
obstructing the movement of the loading cell itself.
- We recommend keeping the various feelers and photocells free from dust and product scraps
which may cause malfunctionings during the automatic cycle.

Lubrication - 10

CHAPTER 10: LUBRICATION

Introduction
This section gives all the general instructions for a correct lubrication of the machine, which
is a determining factor for keeping the machine in the best operating conditions.
Each machine of P AVAN S .p.A. is supplied together with the necessar y technical
documentation for carrying out a time-scheduled lubrication, listing also the type of intervention
to be carried out.
The technical guarantee on the machines will be valid only if the given lubrication instructions
are fully observed.

ATTENTION:
Before carrying out any maintenance intervention, cut-off the electric power supply,by
turning the isolating s witch to the OFF “0” position and bloc k it with a padloc k, as
foreseen by the safety laws. It is also important that the assigned staff is perfectly
aware of the “GENERAL AND SAFETY WARNINGS”, listed in Chapter 01 of this
manual.

Lubrication upon machine installation

As a rule, all the oil-lubricated mechanisms, which need a periodical change of lubricant, are
supplied empty.
Only the mechanisms lubricated permanently are supplied complete with the lubricant.
The grease-lubricated mechanisms are supplied already lubricated with the suitable type of
lubricant.
Upon machine installation, bef ore star t-up, the Technician assigned to maintenance m ust
make sure that all the par ts have been lubr icated correctly, and e ventually lubricate them
with the recommended type/trade-mark of lubricant.
In some reduction units, in order to avoid eventual oil leaks during transportation, the exhaust
plug (breather) is replaced with a blind plug. The exhaust plug (breather) must be replaced
when installing the machine, as indicated in the manual.

ATTENTION:
For correct operating of the oil-/grease-lubricated mechanisms, avoid mixing, during
the adding/topping up operations, different types of lubricants both of different trade-
marks, as of the same.
Never mix polyglycol synthetic lubricants with mineral lubricants.

Lubrication in case of a prolonged stop.

Carry out the following operations if the machine is stopped for three months to a year due to
a delay in installation or to the end of production:
- The grease-lubricated mechanisms must be greased again.
- The oil-lubricated mechanisms, which need a periodical change of lubricant, must be
filled completely with oil (up to the level of the inlet plug).

E E-CPSM4-10A-00

10 - Lubrication

- The lubricant to be used, either grease or oil, must be the same contained in the
mechanism and shown in the lubrication table.

The above operation does not refer to the mechanisms that have been permanently lubricated
(LONG LIFE ).

When the machine is started up after a stop shorter than a year, it will only be necessary
to reach the oil level, by removing the quantity in eccess.
On the contrary if the machine has been stopped for more than a year it will be necessary
to discharge the oil contained in the mechanism and put in new oil, up to the level.
The grease-lubricated mechanisms must be lubricated again.
The lubricant’s trade-marks and types to be used are shown in the lubrication table.

Diagnostic - 11

CHAPTER 11: DIAGNOSTIC

11.1 Troubles - Causes - Solutions

Introduction
Malfunctioning conditions, reasonably predictable, relating to the singular operative functions
of the machine, are reported in the following tables.
The possible causes and interventions that the operator must make to restore the operative
function are reported for every type of trouble.

Intervention procedure for mechanical or electrical maintenance man:

Whenever the person in charge of machine operation observes an anomaly which is caused
by machine malfunctioning due to electrical or mechanical problems he must warn the "person
in charge of system security in the work place" of the need to intervene.

The person responsible for security will have the following tasks:
- individuate and employ a competent person (mechanical or electrical maintenance man) to
carry out the operation;
- supply the maintenance man with all the personal protection devices required for the operation;
- check that during the course of the operation all the required personal protection equipment
is used correctly and that all the foreseen safety regulations are respected.

Once the person in charge of maintenance receives the task and the keys to have
access to the system, he must first:
- make sure there is no uninvolved personnel nearby;
- make sure that the system is in the proper condition (i.e. the machine is off) to be able to
carry out the maintenance procedures in complete saf ety.

The person in charge of the maintenance must do the following once having finished
the operation:
- return the access keys for the system to the person in charge of security who will have to
make sure that all the conditions for system security are restored.

During adjustment and replacement operations the area around the machine must be
blocked off. Do not allow extraneous people near the machine.
