Furturism was an artistic movement founded in Italy in the early 20th century
but it is certainly not the first time humans have been fascinted with the concept
of what will happen beyond their present time. Think back to the Mayans who
created a calender with predictions of what would happen thousands of years
ahead of their time. It is humanity’s inate draw to the unknown combine with
our fear that pushes us towards looking forward.

This collection draws inspiration heavily from 90s era Japanese fashion brands
such as Beauty:Beast, 20471120, Comme des Garcon, and Issey Miyake. These
brands all championed the avant garde and pushed boundaries that were light
years ahead of their contemperaries. They drew inspiration from sculpture, archi-
tecture, and even popular media such as Evangelion Neon Genisis which was a
breakthorugh in the mecha genre at the time. At the same time in the artists such
as Mariko Mori sought to connect futurism with nature creating artworks that
could appear to be from a celestial planet.

The target customer is someone daring and always looking for the new. Classics
and staples bore them away and they wish to stand out from their peer group.
They have a strong appreciation for craftsmanship and the arts in all it’s forms.
The odd and strange are right up their alley and they are open minded to new
expereinces and philosophies.
