NARRATIVE REPORT OF PATEROS NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL ON THE RECENTLY

CONCLUDED 8TH DEPARTMENTAL LAC SESSION

NARRATIVE:

The Pateros National High School Science Faculty concluded their 8th LAC Session
last March 31, 2022 at the Science Faculty Room with his topic on using Canva in teaching
profession. According to Google, Canva is an Australian global multi-national graphic design
platform that is used to create social media graphics and presentations. The app includes
readymade templates for users to use, and the platform is free and offers paid subscriptions
such as Canva Pro and Canva for Enterprise for additional functionality. Canva is an
alternative way to present their topic aside from the commonly used Powerpoint
Presentation.
The 8th LAC Session started at around 11:05 in the morning. Initially, the LAC
Session is divided into two sessions, one session in the morning for afternoon shift
teachers, another session in the afternoon for morning shift teachers. The program started
by a prayer followed by a nationalistic song. The Department Head of the Science
Department, Ms. Rowena C. Lamera, gave her opening remarks. After Ms. Lamera gave
her opening remarks, it was followed by giving the statement of purpose by one of the
master teachers in the Science department, Ms. Maria Concepcion A. Villarosa.
For the program proper, Ms. Ma. Cecilia Doliro, a Grade 8 Science teacher of the
school introduced the resource speaker. The resource speaker for the 8th Departmental LAC
Session was Mr. Christopher Colisao, a Grade 10 Science teacher of the school. His topic
was entitled, “Canva in the Teaching Profession”. Before the resource speaker begin his
topic, he gave first an energizer by means of arranging jumbled letters to form a word. After
that, resource speaker discussed the importance of Canva and how we can use it in our
field. After his discussion, he gave the participants an activity which was the Petcha Kutcha.
A Pecha Kucha presentation is a format that uses 20 slides or images that are displayed for
20 seconds each. The slides will move automatically as the presenter is speaking. This
format ensures that the speaker is concise, keeps the presentation moving, and gets
through all of their content.
The discussion followed immediately by a post conference. After that was the
awarding of certificate to the resource speaker by the Grade 8 teachers headed by Ms.
Caroline C. Requilman, a Grade 8 teacher of the school. Before the LAC Session ended,
Mr. Ruel Aspacio, a Grade 9 teacher of the Science department gave his closing remarks.
The master of ceremony for the 8th Departmental LAC Session was Ms. Alma Bernas, a
grade 9 Science teacher of the school. Attached in the succeeding page are the pictures as
proof of documentation for this activity.
