Level: Easy ++ (Upper beginner)

OVERVIEW:
1. The sweater is worked in 4 pieces: Back, Front and 2 sleeves
2. The font and back panels are crocheted from the below edge and in the direction of the arrows as shown
in the picture below.
3. The neckband and cuffs are crocheted separately then the neckband is sewn to the body and the cuffs are
sewn to the sleeves.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS:


1. Alize Lanagold Classic, color No.36: 5 (6, 6, 7) balls. Each ball is 100g.
Note: You could choose another yarn brands, make sure that the yarn weight is DK, about 240m/100g. You
should choose the yarn which is made partly from wool so that the sweater will turn out soft, light and warm.
2. Size 4mm crochet hook
3. Size 5mm crochet hook
4. Scissors
5. Tapestry needle
6. Measuring tape

GAUGE: (Approximate) 15 sts and 13 rows = 4"x4” [10x10 cm] in Yarn Over Slip Stitch with 5mm crochet
hook. You need to crochet loosely to have that gauge.
Note: Before starting crocheting the sweater, you should make a swatch to check the gauge first. The swatch
should be 15 sts and 13 rows = 4"x4” [10x10 cm] so that the sweater could get the length recommended in the
pattern.

Note: When you use 4mm hook, crochet tightly. When you use 5mm hook, crochet loosely because it
gives the sweater better elasticity.

BACK PANEL:
(*) With 4mm hook, Ch 11 sts; then change to 5mm hook, Ch 24 (25, 28, 30) sts (picture 1).
Row 1 (WS): Begin from 2nd chain from hook, YOST in next 23 (24, 27, 29) sts; Change to 4mm hook,
YOST in next 11 sts; ch 1, turn (picture 2).

Shape left shoulder:


Row 2 (RS): YOST in next 11 sts. Change to 5mm hook, YOST in next 23 (24, 27, 29) sts. Ch 31 (33, 33, 34)
sts (picture 3).
Row 3: Begin from 2nd chain from hook, YOST in next 30 (32, 32, 33) sts of the chain, continue with YOST
in next 23 (24, 27, 29) sts; Change to 4mm hook, YOST in next 11 sts; ch 1, turn (picture 4).

Fasten off, leave a long yarn thread to sew Back and Front panels together.

SLEEVES:
With 5mm hook, Ch 54 (57, 58, 61) sts
Row 1 (WS): Begin from 2nd chain from hook, YOST in next 53 (56, 57, 60) sts; ch 1, turn.
Row 2: YOST in next 53 (56, 57, 60) sts; Ch1, turn.
Repeat last row 52 (56, 58, 60) more times.
Fasten off, leave a long yarn thread to sew the sleeve to the body.

Make the cuff

With 4mm hook, Ch 12 sts


Row 1 (WS): Begin from 2nd chain from hook, YOST in next 11 sts; ch 1, turn.
Row 2: YOST in next 11 sts; Ch1, turn.
Repeat last row 25 (27, 28, 29) more times.
Fasten off, leave a long yarn thread to sew the cuff to the sleeve.

Make other Sleeve the same.

NECKBAND:
With 4mm hook, Ch 29 sts
Row 1 (WS): Begin from 2nd chain from hook, YOST in next 28 sts; ch 1, turn.
Row 2: YOST in next 28 sts; Ch1, turn.
Repeat last row 58 (62, 62, 66) times more. Fasten off, leave a long yarn thread to sew the cuff to the
sleeve.

FINISHING:
Block pieces.
Sew shoulder seams with mattress stitch.
Sew Neckband to Body: Turn the sweater into right side; Fold the neckband in half (Picture 1)
Note: Do not pull the yarn thread tightly when you sew because it will prevent your head from getting
through the sweater. Stretch the neck area horizontally to make sure that it stretches well.

Begin from right shoulder of the Font panel, sew 5 sts of the neckband to 5 sts of the vertical egde; Sew 22
(24, 24, 26) sts of the neckband to 22 (24, 24, 26) sts the vertical-and-curved edge; sew 5 sts of the neckband
to 5 sts of the vertical left edge.

Move to the Back panel. Sew 3 sts of the neckband to 3 sts of the vertical left edge; Sew 22 (24, 24, 26) sts of
the neckband to 22 (24, 24, 26) sts the vertical-and-curved edge; sew 3 sts of the neckband to 3 sts of the
vertical right edge.

Sew neckband seams together with mattress stitch. Wave in end.

Sew cuffs to sleeves


Sew 2 sts of the sleeve to 1 st of the cuff as in the picture 2.
Note: Do not pull the yarn thread too tightly when you sew because it will prevent your hands from getting
through the cuffs. Stretch the cuff horizontally to make sure that it stretches well.

Sew tops of Sleeves into armholes with mattress stitch.
Sew side and Sleeve seams with mattress stitch.
