HOW TO DRAW DIRECTLY ONTO THE PAPER
STEP 1:
Start by opening one of

the .procreate files.
Open the Layers Panel.
Select the layer labeled

Add Artwork Here.

Add your artwork to
this layer.

You can either:
A. Draw directly on this

layer.
B. Insert a sketch to work

from. Tap the Actions
icon.
Tap Add.
Choose Insert a file

or Insert a photo,
depending on where
your sketch is located.
Create a new layer

above your sketch layer
and draw!

HOW TO ADJUST THE PAPER EFFECTS
STEP 1:
Expand the group titled

Paper Texture + Effects
by clicking the arrow.

STEP 2:
This is your paper

texture.
The paper texture layer

will always have the same
name as the file.
We do not recommend
making changes to
this layer’s opacity or
blending mode.

STEP 3:
This layer allows you to

adjust the intensity of
the depth of the paper
texture.
Select the layer.
Tap the Blending Mode

letters Cb.
Adjust the Opacity

slider until you get your
desired effect.

In this example, you can

see how adjusting the
opacity of this layer affects
the texture depth.
On the left, the opacity set

at 30%.
On the right, the opacity

set at 100%.

This layer allows you to

adjust the ink effects
and how the ink interacts
with the paper.
Select the layer.
Tap the Blending Mode

Adjust the Opacity

slider until you get your
desired effect.

In this example, you can

opacity of this layer affects
how the ink interacts with
the paper.
On the left, the opacity set

at 30%.

HOW TO RESIZE THE PAPER
STEP 1:
Tap the Actions icon.
Tap Canvas.
Tap Crop and Resize.

STEP 2:
Resize your canvas by

either:
A. Typing in your
desired size.
B. Dragging the canvas

out with your finger.

STEP 3:
Swipe left on the Paper

Texture + Effects
group.
Tap Duplicate.

STEP 4:
Make sure the new

duplicated group is
selected.
Tap the Selection Tool.

STEP 5:
Turn on Snapping.
Tap Uniform.
Move the paper textures

to fill your canvas.
Tap the Selection Tool

again when you’re done.

STEP 6:
Move all the layers

from the duplicate group
next to their originals in
1 the original group.
Tap the top layer and

tap Merge Down to
merge the layers.

Repeat for the paper

texture, Adjust Ink Fade,
and Adjust Texture layers.

Swipe left on the now

empty Paper Texture
+ Effects duplicate
group.
Tap Delete.

STEP 1:
Select the Paper

Textures + Effects
group.

Tap Uniform.
Drag the corner out

to make it bigger or in to
make it smaller.

STEP 1:
Select the Paper

Textures + Effects
group.

STEP 2:
Drag the selection to

move the texture around
the canvas.
At this point, you will

need to follow the steps
to resize or rescale the
texture to fill your canvas.

HOW TO ADD EXISTING ARTWORK TO THE PAPER
STEP 1:
Have your existing

artwork file as well as
the paper texture file
you want to use available
in the Gallery.

Open your artwork

file.
1 Swipe right on all the

layers.
Drag the layers out of

the Layers Panel.

holding the layers, tap
Gallery with your other
hand.

Drag and drop the

layers below the Paper
Texture + Effects layers.

The layers will

automatically be added
to the canvas in the order
they appeared in the other
file.
Follow the directions on

how to rescale or resize
your paper so that it fills
your artwork.

HOW TO ADD PAPER TO EXISTING ARTWORK
STEP 1:
Have your existing

artwork file as well as
you want to use available
in the Gallery.

STEP 2:
Open the paper

texture file.

paper texture + effects
layers.
Drag the layers out of

the Layers Panel.

The layers will loose their

settings, so you will need
to manually reset them.

Set the paper texture

layer to Muliply and
leave the opacity at
100%.
Set the Adjust Texture

layer to Color Burn and
set the opacity to 50%.
Set the Adjust Ink Fade

layer to Screen and set
the opacity to 50%.
50% opacity is a good

starting point for the
Adjust Ink Fade and Adjust
Texture layers. You can
now adjust those
opacities as you see fit
for your artwork.

STEP 7:
Now that your layers

have their proper settings,
follow the directions to
resizing or rescaling the
paper textures to fit your
new canvas.

HOW TO CHANGE THE PAPER COLOR
STEP 1:
Select the paper layer.

Tap the Adjustments

icon.
Tap Hue, Saturation,

Brightness and choose
Layer.

Adjust the Hue slider and

the Saturation slider
until you get your desired
paper color.
