 InstallatioN
In Photoshop, open your brushes window, click on
the little menu icon top right and choose import
brushes. Browse to where you’ve saved the
Photoshop .abr file and select it and you’re done.
PEN / PENCIL SETTINGS
We highly recommend you change your pen/pencil pressure settings (not just for our brush
packs, but for any brush pack!).
Personally, we use a curved setting like the one below - this allows us to get thinner strokes for longer without having to press too
lightly, while at the same time, we don’t need to press really really hard to get the full thickness of the stroke.
On desktop, open your tablet settings (we’re
using Wacom Desktop Center), and customise
the pen settings. The default curve is linear, but I
find editing it into more of a slope gives me much,
much more control.

On your iPad, browse to where you have saved the
unzipped brushsets. Tap and hold on the brushset
you would like to install and a menu will open -
choose share and then Procreate and the brushset
will automatically install.
Alternatively, if you have the brushes saved on
your Mac you can right click and choose Share
> Airdrop and select your iPad (make sure it is
awake and on!). On your iPad, choose to open the
Airdrop file in Procreate.
Repeat this for each of the brushsets!
On iPad, go to Actions menu (the Wrench icon
top left) and select the preferences tab, then
Pressure and Smoothing.
A shallow curve allows for lighter strokes at
low pressure but thickens up quickly without
pressing extremely hard.
CANVAS SETUP
It’s probably worth mentioning our canvas setup -
usually we use around 3000 / 4000 pixels on the
shortest side at least. For resolution, if our work is
mainly going to appear on screens or digitally, we use
72dpi but if we know we’re going to be printing large
posters and we want everything to look razor-sharp
we will use 300dpi.
In Photoshop, hit CTRL /
CMD + N to create a new
document and enter the
dimensions and resolution
you would like.
STABILISATION
If you’d like nice smooth strokes, you can easily get a helping hand in both apps!
In Photoshop, select the brush
you’d like to use - at the top of
the screen there is a smoothing
slider - simply increase this for
more smoothing which will help
you on longer strokes. You can
change this setting any time -
just remember any changes you
make will be lost whenever you
switch brushes in Photoshop.
In Procreate, from the gallery screen,
tap the plus icon top right and either
select a preset or add your own
custom one by hitting the dark icon
with the plus beside new canvas -
from here you can enter whichever
settings you like.
On iPad, tap on the brush you’d like to use to
open the brush studio - tap the stabilisation
tab on the left and you can increase the
stabilisation amount slider. Procreate is a
little different in that it remembers your latest
settings. If you ever want to reset the brush
back to its original settings, just open the brush
studio again, tap About this brush on the left
and tap on Reset brush and confirm. Don’t
ever worry about experimenting in either app -
you can’t break anything and can always revert
to the factory settings!

The liners are the stars of the pack
- so many different characters and
There are three sketchers to get you up and running, each having a slightly different flow to choose from, ranging from

The erasers have several different styles - the idea is that they allow you to tidy up in a way that retains the original feel of - as well as some interesting and

One tip I’ll give that applies to any of the non mono liner
TIP / tech pen types - sometimes you can get a lot more
control by making the brush size larger than you might
think. With a soft stroke, you can still get the same thin
lines, but now when you press harder, you can get nice
thick lines in the same stroke without ever changing
brush size. (Again, check out our full process video for
more tips on setting up your pen and tablet to take your
linework to the next level.)

Erasers are often overlooked as a creative tool - sometimes it’s easier to use the different flavours of eraser to subtract from when the time comes!
There’s a lot of different characters in the main liners -
your drawings to get the effect you like - make sure to experiment! mix and match and you’ll find some powerful combos.

Outliners
The outliners can be a lot of fun to use - and can
be very nice for graffiti-style lettering or doodle
illustrations. If you draw with a single stroke and overlap
itself, it’ll knock out the part of the lines it is overlapping
which can create some really interesting stuff that
would otherwise be very difficult to achieve.
You might need to retrace part of a stroke to make a
branching path but the lines should readjust nicely.
Calligraphy Brushes
There are three calligaphic brushes with preset
angles which can be nice for certain illustration
styles or lettering. In Photoshop, you can actually
easily edit the angle to what suits you - with the
brush selected, open your brush settings window,
and under brush tip shape, change the angle to
whatever you like.
Stabby Brushes
The Stabby brushes are really useful - you don’t need
to rely on perfect pressure control to get your stroke to
taper - they automatically do this. Use different length
brushes and styles to really nail your look.
So
Other liners
The other liners are a mixture of different styles
and effects. The Dotty Dee brushes are fantastic
for a stippled look - different pressure gets different
results and one of the best things is you can use
these to precisely add to some of our fill pattern
stipples covered later for extra control.

Because we handmade or drew all the brushes, tips,

pack, they all place very nicely together and look cohesive
- so absolutely try to mix and match and find the combos
you love!

 SHadeRS FiLlS
We’ve included a lovely collection of pattern fills,
like halftones, angled line shading and hatching,
stipples and more.

One really nice feature of the stipples / line fills is that the different
weights all overlap perfectly which means you can create interesting
transitions.

The same goes for all the stipple brushes - the different densities of
dots all match up nicely.

I highly recommend experimenting with mixing and matching the fill

brushes as you can achieve some very unique and interesting effects.

With the fill patterns, the brush size changes the

The shaders are a great collection to colour, shade or add interesting
textures to your artwork. The opaque block is a very basic brush for
your flat shading (that has just a hint of grit on the edges) - the airbrush

shading - like the real thing, they build up as you
go over them a few times so it’s simple to create

 STaMPs +
PARTICLES
Stamps and particles can be a lot of fun and let you put together some lovely artwork
VERY quickly - we’ve saved you a lot of time and have hand drawn DOZENS of different
stamps for you to use - and because we drew them with the liner brushes in this pack,
they look like they all belong together!

For nearly all of these, there are two versions - a stRoke and a stamp version. The stroke
lets you draw a single line and randomised versions of the stamp will appear. The stroke
gives you more control - you just tap, or stamp, and just one will appear - this will still
have a tiny bit of randomness to it though - the angle and size will change just a little bit
so if you’re stamping it several times, it has enough variation to still look hand drawn.

Special brushes
Some of the brushes - like these splats - have a buildup property too - if you hold the
brush on the canvas when you tap it will layer more and more of the stamps on top of
each other giving you an entirely original stamp.

CHANGING PARTICLE SPACING

In Photoshop, if you’d like to space out the stroke particles, You can do this easily in Procreate as well - tap
select the brush, open your brush settings panel and the brush to open brush studio, and change
under brush tip shape, change the spacing property to the space slider - you can also reduce the
spread them out. jitter here to make the particles less chaotic.
