c. Students would have better understanding of one’s own perception of culture and

To begin the class, a carton box with colored papers inside will be put
at the center of the class. Each colored paper will have the name of the
country. The professor would randomly choose a student by using a
random number generator in which students are numbered

Impromptu speech and at the same time evaluates the student’s

4 Different Types of Speech Delivery Method

An important skill that calls for a variety of delivery methods is public


speaking. Extemporaneous, impromptu, manuscript and memorized
are the four main styles of speech delivery. Each style has a distinct
meaning and application context.
B3. Abstraction
A. Impromptu Speech
1. Definition:
-Delivered without prior notice, planning and preparation.

2. Characteristics:
a. Spontaneous and unplanned
b. Relies on the speaker’s ability to think on their feet
c. Requires quick thinking and improvisation

b. Responding to job interviews
c. Meeting someone new and exchanging conversations

B. Extemporaneous Speech

1. Definition:
- Speeches that are well-rehearsed outline and key points
but delivering it spontaneously.
2. Characteristics:

c. Spoken in a casual and interactive manner using brief notes

3. Examples:
a. Persuading the client of the value of your good or service in
business meetings and conferences
b. Speaking in a campaign to raise awareness of the value of
having a strong mental health

1. Definition:
- Entails reading from a prepared text.

b. Enunciate words clearly and loudly. Don’t murmur or
mispronounce them.

d. To make your point clearer and keep the audience’s attention,
vary your voice’s speed, inflection and force.

[IM 2 - Beauty In Discovery]


After the students have learned the different speeches according to
delivery. The students are expected to do the activity to test their
comprehension of the topic presented to them. Beauty in Discovery is
an Instructional Material that can be utilized to let the application of
learning take place. A big map will be posted on the blackboard and
students will be divided into 5 groups. One must have a leader who will
go to the board, and unlock the beauty that is hidden in that particular
country that contains diverse social problems, social differences, and
culture and traditions. After the discussion that the teachers can imply,
students are assigned to craft their speech applying their knowledge of
the different speech styles according to delivery. The leader must
select one member to do Memorized Speech and also one member

who will do the Impromptu Speech, while 3 members of the group will
be given 1 minute to prepare for the Extemporaneous Speech. The
different participants of Extemporaneous will be given enough time to
take turns answering the questions they found inside the map. The
groups that can answer the questions impressively will be given the
highest point. In deliberating the scores of the group, there will be
rubrics that measure the answer of the students.

After the students grasp the idea of how to make an effective speech
according to delivery. The winning groups that performed
outstandingly will be given a certificate that merits their hard work and

GENERALIZATION teachers will select the three best speakers who let their hearts and
minds speak up impressively. This recognition will commend the
student's bravery and application to the learnings they have gathered
from their teacher and give them a sense of awareness and reflection
on what are the dos and don'ts of doing an effective speech.
