1 Introduction
Praesideo is a public address system that meets the requirements instituted by different authorities on a public
address emergency system and evacuation sound system. The processing and communication of audio and
control data is entirely in the digital domain.
The exact layout and contents of your Praesideo system depends on the purpose for which you want to use it
and the physical location in which it is installed. The system has a modular equipment approach, which means
that it is possible to add additional functionality any time by adding equipment. The main Praesideo range
consists of the following pieces of equipment and software:
Praesideo units can be repaired centrally via Solectron (previous MDB) or with the spare parts as mentioned
in this document.
The spare parts mentioned in this document are available at SLB.
The equipment should only be serviced by Bosch trained and qualified people.
More information about the service policy can be found in the Praesideo Service marketing plan.
(Available via the local sales organisation or Service BU Communication Breda)
Important: In case of a defective unit always mention the fault of the unit on the RMA. In the
diagnose page (see also chapter 9) you will find a fault description of that unit which you can write
down.
Our main Internet address where Praesideo and service related information can be found:
www.Praesideo.info and www.boschsecuritynet.com
On boschsecuritynet.com a login password is required.
• Vacuum cleaning of the power amplifier every +/- 2 years (depending on the ambient dust)
• When used, vacuum clean the rack mounting filters of the cooling fans +/- 2 years (depending on the
ambient dust)
• Replace after +/- 8 years the battery on the main PCB of the Network Controller.
Used type: Coin CR2032 3V 220mAH
Caution: This exchange should be done with the unit under power, as otherwise
settings are lost. Beware of the risk of an electric shock. See also chapter 8.5.3
• Prevent or remove animal nests (mice and rats can eat the cabling)
• The fibres of the POF (plastic optical cable) can be cleaned with isopropanol or cleaning alcohol.
When for example a service lifetime of 15 years needs to be provided, two things can be done:
1. Make sure that the ambient temperature is kept below the indicated temperature for the required
lifetime. (See Figure 1. The vertical marker shows at which ambient temperature the lifetime is expected
to be 15 years)
2. Calculated intervals for replacement of the units. For Ambient temperatures higher than what is
needed for the required lifetime, indicate the replacement period for system components.
(See Figure 1. For example if the ambient temperature is 45°C, than before 7.5 year the Power
Amplifiers need to be exchanged).

LED indications
Note: The LBB4414/10 (Fibre interface Non Addressable) cannot check the
communication with the network. The Green (2) blinking status is not valid.
All leds on or blinking could indicate faulty download or defect to the call station caused by hot wiring,
removing of the extension.
8 Fault finding
If a fault occurs on the Praesideo system the yellow LED starts blinking on the call station. The event of the
fault will be reported in the diagnose page.
The yellow blinking LED can be stopped by solving the mentioned fault in the diagnose page and making an
“acknowledgement” and “reset”. You can also program these functions on the call station extension or input
contact. From Software 2.1 it’s possible to program that the blinking will stop after an Acknowledgement of
the fault.
From SW version x are faults events shown also shown in the display.
The following fault events need an acknowledge and reset to be removed from display;
Other fault events dissolve from the NCO’s display when they are solved and the NCO is reseted or when the
fault is manually ack and reseted
Correct the time and date via the rotary switch on the front of the unit.
When the Call station is powered and the extension is removed, the Call station can get defect. The symptoms
are than: all LED’s on, unit not recognized by the system (unit can not be found in upgrade unit software
page)
8.8 Communication
The status LED on the fiber interface indicates if your cable has communication with the NCO, than
your cable is ok.
Network Splitter: Green LED is on.
Fiber Interface: Green LED is on, NOT blinking.
(See also chapter 8.7.4.1 regarding the “half power” mode)
From Software version 2.1 it’s possible to lower the network signal –3dB: half power mode.
With the half power mode it’s possible to find critical POF network problems.
The setting can be made in the configuration/diagnostic software -> Diagnose -> Installation.
Don’t forget to set the mode to “full power” after the network communication is proofed ok.
9 Diagnostics Events

Description: Logs the absence of a WLS master board when it’s configured to
be used.
Fault finding: Check the band cable connection of the WLS Master board.
Exchange the WLS Master boards of an amplifier that works correct.
10 Software versions
10.1 General.
Praesideo power amplifiers, Fiber interface, call station and call station kits are delivered without application
software. The software delivered in the units is for factory purpose and needs to be upgraded. (see user
manual for instructions)
Note: Every unit of the Praesideo system must have the same software / baseline version.
After an upgrade of software it’s advisable to check this via the front display to be
sure every unit has the same Baseline version.
From SW version 2.1 is it possible to check this at the “upgrade unit software” page in the
configuration software.
NCO: Display page 2F: Software version (for example 1.30 0822)
Display page 2G: Baseline version (for example 1.60 1052)
PAM: Display Page 2C: Baseline version (for example 1.60 1052)
11.1 General:
There has been a possibility that the Shortcut to ground circuit could brake down in the Praesideo boosters which
are or have been connected to the 48V DC back up power supply. The Shortcut to ground circuit could brake
down due to a too high voltage while connecting the 48V DC back up power supply.
A simple test can be made to check the Shortcut to ground circuit of the amplifier;
At the back of the amplifier you have to make a temporary short circuit between the 100v output and the
mechanical ground. In the diagnostic page this error message will appear: Amplifier ground short: Channel x.
After an accept and reset this message should be gone. If this message or other amplifiers ground short
messages stays in the diagnostic list, please contact the service department of Bosch Security systems in Breda.
When the Praesideo units are build in a rack, the units as well as the rack should be connected
to ground. When Battery back up is used, the negative pole must be connected to mechanical
ground. Advisable is to make a connection from the 48V minus pole at the back of the
Praesideo to the mechanical ground of the rack.
< 100uA is OK
12 Hyper terminal.
12.1 General
When your system becomes unreachable via an Ethernet connection, it is possible to use HyperTerminal to
set the TCP/IP settings to their correct value for system access. This will help your regain access to your
system.
After HyperTerminal is started you will see a window similar to the one below.
Follow the instructions on the screen and fill in a name for the connection (for example: Praesideo).
Press <OK> to continue.
Select the serial port you will use to connect the network controller of the Praesideo system with the PC.
You may also make the actual connection at this moment by using an RS232 1:1 cable.
Now it is time to set the properties for the used serial port. Use the setting like shown in the window
below and continue by pressing <OK>.
After a restart of the network controller, the window of HyperTerminal should show an image similar to
that below.
• Press simultaneously the keys <Ctrl> and <X> and notice how your Praesideo system performs a
restart. As soon as the line “Press any key to stop auto-boot…” is shown on the HyperTerminal screen
press any key. (You will have to be quite fast for that)
The command prompt [VxWorks Boot] will appear.
• Press <C> (for configuration) and press <Enter>, than fill in the (case sensitive) values shown below.
If a setting is already displayed correct, press <Enter>.
• To clear a field press “.”
• Put a “0” behind every line to be sure no hidden characters could be there.
• Use “-“ to go to the previous field.
Use your own IP address and gateway settings of course.
When you want to get back to the [VxWorks Boot] prompt, press <@> to accept and start up with the
new settings.
Now you should be able to regain access to your system.
