HOW TO MAKE BIR PLETOK /PLETOK BEER

The Ingredients :

 50 grams of fresh ginger

 50 grams of palm sugar or brown sugar
 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar
 2 lemongrass
 6 laves of kaffir lime
 1 leaf of pandan
 ¼ teaspoon of nutmeg
 7 cloves
 4 centimeters of cinnamon stick
 3 cups of water

The steps

1. First, grill your 50 gr of fresh ginger. Then, bruise the grill fresh gin
ger,lemongrass, and nutmeg.
2. Second, in a medium saucepan, add 3 cups of water, all of the spi
ces, 1-2 tsp of granulated sugar. Tear the kaffir lime leaves, and th
en add into the pan. Wait until boiling,then adjust temperature. Let
it simmer.
3. Third, wait until the water boils.
4. Fourth, take the spices and pour the water into two cups.
5. Last, serve the bir pletok/pletok beer with warmly or codly.

FUNERAL CEREMONY
In Betawi, when one of our neighbour or a friend has died, Betawi people will do so
me ceremonies before and after funeral such as Ngelawat,/Nyelawat, taking care of
the dead body, tahlilan and Ngored.
The first is ngelawat/nyelawat or mourn. We go visiting to express condolence .
The second is taking care of the dead body, means we do bathing and then mating t
he corpse.
The third is tahlilan. This event is held by family members who left behind by the dec
ease.
The fourth is ngored. We pray in cemetery/funeral.
