6. What are Tea Processing Factory:
the unique We visited the tea garden. A local guide informed us about the total area of
garden, tea processing procedure (drying ,grading), prices of different graded
things you teas, marketing facility etc.

observed 1. We met the senior scientist Trisha Roy and she gave informations about
related to institute , their works, other research centres present all over the india(Agra,
Agriculture? Ballari, Chandigarh, Datia, Koraput, Kota, Udhagamandalam, Vasad) .
2. She described us about different types of soil erosion, causes of soil
erosion, amount of degraded soil in india, stages of erosion(splash erosion,
sheet erosion, rill erosion, gully, ravine), different measurements to
control erosion( bunding, branch terracing, trenching, stone wall etc.).
3. She gave information about minespoil problem and its treatments(Katta-
Crate technology).
4. We got to know about different water conservation practices to recycling
runoff water like Dugout ponds for deep black soil in Deccan plateau region,
Jhola Khundi in eastern ghat high land zone of Odisha, Spring water
harvesting in hilly areas and different methods to recharge ground water.
5. We got information about Paddy-Fish integrated farming system, different
intercopping systems like maize-cowpea, castor-green gram,ragi-pigeon pea,
green manuring, conservation tillage, bamboo plantation for ravine
reclamation , composite fish culture in water harvesting structure, different
agri-horticultural systems.
6. She told us about different projects like Mera Gaon-Mera Gaurav
Programme(MGMG), Operational research project, Fakot, Tehri
Garhwal, Uttarakhand, TDET-MoRD Project, Swachh Bharat Mission.
FRI:
1. We visited museums in Forest Research Institute. There were 6 museums
based on social forestry, pathology, silviculture, timber, non-wood forest
products and entomology.
There we saw different types of barks, roots, seeds, fibres, pathology-disease
samples, bamboo products, models of nursery, cutting tools etc.
2. We visited to FRI central nursery. There we saw different varieties of
aromatic and medicinal plant varieties, varieties of bamboo, production of
different vegetable plants in poly houses etc.
7. Experience  In the tea estate I got to learn about the requirements of tea
during the cultivation, steps of tea processing, tea grading systems and the
benefits of using organically produced tea.
trip (Lessons  In ICAR-IISWC I learned how erosion is being controlled in hilly
learned) areas by using geo-textiles(jute net ) on the degraded slopes and
water conservation processes practiced in hills by collecting runoff
water and store it for future crop production, how to utilize wasteland
by using fodder and some success stories related to water
conservation, increase of the productivity of those region using those
methods.
 In FRI museums I got a lot of information about different pathogen,
diseases, wood samples, various materials made using bamboo, jute
fibres and in the nursery I saw a lot of varieties of bamboo,
aloevera, cultivation in polyhouses.
