3 Disassembly
3.1 Lower Unit

The disassembly is done in the following order:


1. Battery Cover (a) & Battery (b)
2. Co-Branding
3. Lower Outer Cover Assy
4. Main&BT Antenna Box with speaker
5. Main PCBA
6. Core Unit Label

3.1.1 Battery Cover & Battery


Unsnap the corner hook of the Battery Cover by using a
front opening tool as shown in the picture.

Unsnap and remove the Battery Cover.

Lift the Battery from its cavity by using a front opening tool.

Remove the Battery.

Remove the 3 screws with a screwdriver by using a Torx bit


No.5.

3.1.2 Co-Branding
Open the phone.
Insert a dentist hook under the corner of the Co-Branding
and pull upwards.
Don’t destroy the Lower Inner Assy!

Detach and remove it by using a tweezers.


Scrap! Not to be reused!

Disassembly: Lower Unit

Remove the 2 screws by using a Torx bit No. 6.

3.1.3 Lower Outer Cover Assy.


There are 5 hooks around as shown in the picture.

Insert the guitar pick and slide it forth and back to unsnap
one side.

Unsnap the other side.

Unsnap the top side.

Unsnap the 2 hooks by using a front opening tool.

Remove the Lower Outer Cover Assy.

3.1.4 Main&BT Antenna Box with


speaker
Lift up the SIM FPC by using a front opening tool.

Insert the tweezers under the corner of the Main&BT


Antenna Box with speaker as shown in the picture.

Pull upwards to detach the Main&BT Antenna Box with


speaker.

Remove it.

3.1.5 Main PCBA


Unsnap the 3 hooks with the front opening tool.
Make sure the locking key is in open status.

Disconnect the Keyboard FPC PCBA connector on inner


side of the Main PCBA Assy.

Disconnect the Hinge FPC connector.

Remove the PCBA.

3.1.6 Core Unit Label


Read the old Core Unit Label and/or write the information
into the ‘LabelMake’ program before removal.
Carefully insert a dentist hook under the corner of the Core
Unit Label.

3.2 Upper Unit

The disassembly is done in the following order:


1. Style Up Cover
2. Upper Outer Cover Assy
3. Sub LCD
4. Touch Sensor FPC (a) & Sub PCB (b)
5. Lower Inner Assy
6. Upper Inner Assy (a) & Hinge FPC (b)

3.2.1 Style up Cover


There are 9 hooks around the Style Up Cover.

Unsnap one side with a guitar pick sliding forth and back.

Continue to unsnap the other side.

Continue to unsnap the top side.

Remove the Style Up Cover.

3.2.2 Upper Outer Cover Assy


Peel open the Shielding Film for GPS (For W518a).

Remove the 4 screws by using JCIS No.0 bit.

There are 7 hooks around the Upper Outer Cover Assy.

First unsnap the bottom side.

Unsnap the right-handed side by using a guitar pick.

Continue to unsnap the other side.

Disassembly: Upper Unit

Lift the bottom of the Outer Cover Assy carefully and


remove it as shown by the arrow.

Do not break the long hook underneath.

3.2.3 Sub LCD


Disconnect the Sub LCD connector by using a front opening
tool.

Detach the Sub LCD by using a guitar pick.

Disassembly: Upper Unit

Remove it.

3.2.4 Touch Sensor FPC & Sub


PCBA
Ddisconnect the Main LCD connector (1), Hinge FPC
connector (2), GPS connector (3) by using a front opening
tool (W518a).

Disconnect the Main LCD connector (1), Hinge FPC


connector (2), Sub Camera connector (3) by using a front
opening tool (W508 and W508a).

Detach the Touch Sensor FPC from the Upper Inner Cover
and disconnect the Touch Sensor connector (4).

Disassembly: Upper Unit

Fold the Touch Sensor over.

Detach the Sub PCBA by using a dentist hook.

Detach the Camera from the ESD Fabric underneath and


take it out from its cavity.

Remove the Sub PCBA and the Camera.

Feel the ESD Fabric off by using a flex film assembly tool.

Peel off the ESD Fabric.


Scrap. Not to be reused!

Take the vibrator out of its cavity by using a dentist hook.

Remove the Touch Sensor FPC.

Remove the Vibrator Grommet.

Remove the Hinge Clip.

Open the phone and push the Hinge from outside by using a
dentist hook.

Pay attention not to touch or deform the grounding


spring.

3.2.5 Lower Inner Assy


Separate the Upper Inner Assy and Lower Inner Assy from
the hinge part.

Thread the Hinge FPC out from the slot of Lower Inner
Assy. And remove the Lower Inner Assy.

3.2.6 Upper Inner Assy & Hinge FPC


Thread the Hinge FPC from the slot of Upper Inner Assy.

Separate the Hinge FPC and the Upper Inner Assy.

4.15 Keypad

Carry out the replacement as described below.

REMOVAL

Insert a dentist hook in the hole of the Keypad and pull


upwards to detach the Keypad.
Don’t destroy the Mic under the Keypad by dentist
hook.

Peel it off.

Remove it.

INSTALLATION

Attach a new Keypad in place.

4.16 Bumper

REMOVAL
Insert the dentist hook under the left Bumper and pull
upwards to release it.
Scrap! Not to be reused!

INSTALLATION
Attach a new bumper in place.

Press to secure the attachment.


Do the same to the other bumper.

4.17 Main Window Assy &


Main Window Adhesive
Follow the 4.16 Removal instructions!
Carry out the replacement as described below.
Follow the 4.16 Installation instructions!
Follow the 4.36 Installation Instructions (W508, W508a)!

REMOVAL

Insert the dentist hook into the bumper’s hole and pull
upwards to release the Main Window Assy.

Peel it off by using a tweezers.

INSTALLATION

Clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol before attaching


new adhesives.
Attach a new Main Window Adhesive.

Press to secure the attachment of the Main Window


Adhesive.

Peel off the transparent protection foil.

Attach a new Main Window Assy above.

Press it by using Press tool& this model insert with 250N &
20s.

4.18 Main LCD


Follow the 3.2.1- 3.2.2, 4.16, 4.17 Removal instructions!
Carry out the replacement as described below.
Follow the 5.1.5 - 5.1.6, 4.16, 4.17 Installation instructions!

REMOVAL

Disconnect the Main LCD connector by using a front


opening tool.

Disconnect the GPS connector.

Detach the Touch Sensor FPC partly and fold it over by


using a flex film assembly tool.

Replacement: Main LCD

Detach the flex film of the Main LCD.

Turn over the phone.


Thread the flex film through the slot and remove the LCD.

INSTALLATION

Thread the connector of a new Main LCD through the slot.

Place the LCD in place.

Replacement: Main LCD

Turn over the phone.


Press to attach the Main LCD flex film.

Press to connect the Main LCD connector.

Press to attach the Touch Sensor FPC.

Connect the GPS connector and press the speaker in its


cavity.

4.19 Volume Key


Follow the 3.1.1 – 3.1.3 Disassembly instructions!
Carry out the replacement as described below.

REMOVAL

Remove the Volume Key with a tweezers.

INSTALLATION

Place a new Volume Key in the slot.

Press to secure the placement.

4.20 Locking Key


Follow the 3.1.1 – 3.1.3 Disassembly instructions!
Carry out the replacement as described below.
Follow the 5.2.4 – 5.2.6 Reassembly instructions!

REMOVAL

Position the Locking Key in the unlocking position.


Make sure the locking bolt is invisible in the unlocking
position.

Unsnap the hook on back side of the Locking Key by using


a front opening tool.

Push to release it by using a front opening tool.

Replacement: Locking Key

INSTALLATION

Place one end of a new Locking Key in place by a tweezers.


Don’t break the locking bolt

Press to snap the other end of the Locking Key in place.

4.21 Core Unit Label


Follow the 3.1.1 Disassembly instructions!
Read the old Core Unit Label and/or write the information
into the ‘LabelMake’ program before removal.
Prepare a new Core Unit Label.
Check that the proper label format is loaded in the Zebra
printer and write a new label by using ‘LabelMake’ software.
Follow the 5.2.6 Reassembly instructions!

One label only is allowed!

REMOVAL
Remove the Core Unit Label.

INSTALLATION
Attach the printed new Core Unit Label.

4.22 Spacer
Follow the 3.1.1 – 3.1.3, 4.21 Disassembly instructions!
Carry out the replacement as described below.

Insert a dentist hook into the corner of one half of the


Spacer and pull upwards to release it.

Remove it.

Do the same to the other half.

INSTALLATION

Install a pair of new Spacer in place with a tweezers.

Press around to secure the attachment.

Carry out the replacement as described below.

REMOVAL

Detach the volume key dome foil from the frame by using a
dentist hook.

Carefully take it out of the slot by a tweezers.

Turn over the phone.


Insert the dentist hook into the corner of the Keyboard FPC
PCBA and pull it upwards to detach it.

Replacement: Keyboard FPC PCBA

Peel the Keyboard FPC PCBA off partly with a flex film
assembly tool.

Thread the flex (1) through the Lower Inner Assy as shown
by the arrow.

Thread the flex (2) through the Lower Inner Assy as shown
by the arrow.

Thread the flex (3) through the Lower Inner Assy as shown
by the arrow and remove the Keyboard FPC PCBA.

Replacement: Keyboard FPC PCBA

INSTALLATION

Thread the flex (2) and (3) of a new Keyboard FPC PCBA
through the Lower Inner Assy as shown by the arrows.

Thread the flex (1) through the Lower Inner Assy as shown
by the arrow.

Attach it in the alignment with the 3 guide holes.

Press to secure its attachment.

Replacement: Keyboard FPC PCBA & EDS Foil

Attach 2 new Keyboard ESD Foils in place.

Turn over the phone.


Align the volume key dome foil with the guide pole by using
a flex film assembly tool.

Put it in slot and press to secure its attachment.

Assy.

Snap the Upper Inner Assy onto the Lower Inner Assy.

Use a screwdriver with a torx bit No.6 to tighten the 2
screws to a torque of 15±2 Ncm.

Attach a new Co-Branding in place.

Close the phone and Turn it over.
Use a screwdriver with a torx bit No.5 to tighten screw (1) to
a torque of 9±2 Ncm and screw (2) and (3) to a torque of
14±2 Ncm.
