What if my circumstances change and I cannot afford the repayments?

If you are unable to make a payment, you should contact FACS Housing on 1800 422 322 to
discuss your options. You may be eligible for a payment variation if there is a change in your
circumstances, such as:
 A rent increase
 A change in household income
 Unforeseen medical costs/expenses
 Unexpectedly high living expenses such as high electricity bills or childcare expenses.

If you are in extreme financial hardship and your tenancy is at risk, we may agree to defer your
Rentstart Bond Loan payments for a short period.

Can I make extra payments off my loan?

You can make extra payments off your loan at any time. For more information on how to pay
BNDLSTMT 1016
your Rentstart Bond Loan, please refer to the ‘Payment options for clients’ fact sheet available
on our website at www.housing.nsw.gov.au or you can access a copy at your local FACS office.
Any extra payments you make will not change your fortnightly payments, but will reduce the
amount you owe on your loan. This means you will repay your loan quicker and FACS Housing
will advise you when this happens.
