1. What is the importance of studying mythology and folklore as a teacher?

Ultimately, studying mythology gives us context into our world, our literature, and
our own beliefs. Myths and legends provide a basis for moral boundaries and
establish the basic guidelines for the way people within a society live. As we learn
about myths from around the world, we will find that many cultures have similar
stories. As a teacher, we need to know these things to be able to teach our future
students what they should know about.
2. What are learning objectives of mythology and folklore?
Identify how myths and legends are used to explain the natural world.
Understand that myths are the basis of cultural activities in a society. Describe
how myths provide meaning to everyday life. Identify the use of myths and
legends to establish guidelines for living.
3. Why we study folklore?
Folklore studies can help us learn about the historical origins of different groups,
the past, the similarities between various cultures, and of course our own ethnic
identities. The word "folk" refers to individuals from various social groups who
had something in common, such as a common language, religion, culture, or
tradition.
