ABSTRACT

• This project focuses on connecting a Max30100 sensor, a

temperature sensor and LCD Display to an Arduino UNO
microcontroller board.
• The MAX30100 sensor measures heart rate and blood oxygen
levels, while the temperature sensor measures ambient
temperature.

• The Arduino act as the central unit that collects data from
both sensors and a displays it on the LCD display.

• In order to reduce the current burden of public health systom

and promote the popularity of routine health self check.
OBJECTIVE AND AIM :

• With rapid medical development of our modern societies, the health care
systems are becoming much more mature and professional. In order to
reduce the current burden of public health system and promote the
popularity of routine health self-check, this technique has been developed
for making faster and accurate pre diagnoses with ease-of-use.

• Pulse oximetry is a test used to measure the oxygen level

(oxygen saturation) of the blood.
ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY

HEART RATE:

v The heart rate is the number of times the heart beats per minute.

v A normal resting heart rate should be between 60 -100 beats per

minute, it can vary from a minute.

v It provides important information about a cardiovascular health.

v Emotions such as stress , anxiety, or excitement can trigger the

nervous system, causing an increasing heart rate.
SPO2:

v Oxygen saturation (SPO2) is the measurement of how much oxygen

that the blood carrying as a percentage of the maximum.

v For a healthy individual, the normal SPO2 should be between 96%

to 99%.

v Engaging in excercise or physical activity increases the body oxygen

demand, leading to an increasing heart rate.

v Hypoxemia is when oxygen levels in the blood are lower than normal.

EXITING METHOD
• pulse oximeter can measure oxygen saturation. It is a noninvasive device
placed over a person's finger. It measures light wavelengths to determine
the ratio of the current levels of oxygenated hemoglobin to deoxygenated
hemoglobin. The use of pulse oximetry has become a standard of care in
medicine.

• There are two main ways to measure or test blood oxygen levels.
40%
1. Oxygen level blood draw test - An ABG test measures the level of
oxygen and carbon dioxide in your blood.

2. Pulse oximetry test using pulse oximeter - Pulse oximetry is a

non-invasive monitor that measures the oxygen saturation in the
blood by shining light at specific wavelengths through tissue.
PROPOSED METHOD

• Non-Invasive Continuous Monitoring: There is ongoing research and

development into non-invasive methods of continuously monitoring blood
oxygen levels without the need for a finger or fingertip sensor. This could
involve wearable devices or sensors that can measure oxygen saturation
levels through different body parts, such as the wrist, forehead, or earlobe

• Multi-Parameter Monitoring: Future blood oxygen monitors may integrate

additional parameters to provide a more comprehensive assessment of
respiratory function and overall health. This could include the simultaneous
monitoring of other vital signs such as heart rate, respiratory rate, blood
pressure, and carbon dioxide levels.
MATERIALS REQUIRED
HARDWARE MATERIALS:

• Arduino UNO
• Heart rate Sensor
• 16x2 LCD Display
• Potentiometer10k
• Connecting Wires
• Breadboard
SOFTWARE MATERIALS:
• ARDUINO IDE
• MAX sensor library

RESULT

v A normal resting heart rate should be between 60 to 100 beats per minute,
but it can vary from minute to minute.

v Age and general health can also affect your pulse rate, so it's important to
remember that a 'normal' pulse can vary from person to person.

v Thus the heart rate and blood oxygen saturation level should be displayed
in the Blood Oxygen Monitor(pulse rate).
FUTURE SCOPE

• The use of Arduino in conjunction with pulse oximeters opens up several future
possibilities and potential advancements.

• Here are some potential future scopes for pulse oximeters using Arduino:
Wearable Devices: Arduino-based pulse.

• Oximeters can be integrated into wearable devices such as smartwatches,

fitness trackers, or health monitoring devices.
