 CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

American singer and songwriter Jake Lawson, better known as JVKE, has returned to
release his new single 'golden hour'. It is her third single for her upcoming debut album,
following 'This Is What Heartbreak Feels Like' and 'This Is What Falling In Love Feels Like'.
I like this song because the music is very good and matches the sunset on a sunny afternoon.

I heard this song for the first time when I was in 11th grade, the first time I listened to
it, I immediately fell in love because the melody is so soft, it's sad that the piano instrument is
featured in this song, which makes listeners enjoy the meaning of the song even more.

MUSICIAN/BAND BACKGROUND

Lawson was born in Providence, Rhode Island. He had a musical upbringing in the

church and had piano classes and also started singing and writing his own songs for his
church. He went to Catholic school and then to public high school in his home city
of Cranston, and was enrolled at the Community College of Rhode Island for a year and a
half before dropping out to become a singer.

In 2020, during the COVID-19 lockdowns, Lawson and his family joined TikTok.

After an early period of creating skits and other videos, he announced his first single, "Upside
Down". The song became popular, leading to Charlie Puth approaching Lawson for a remix.
On a livestream on Instagram in January 2021, Lawson announced he would be collaborating
with Galantis on a song. That song, "Dandelion", was released in January 2021.

 Lawson released "Golden Hour" on July 15, 2022, a song which he independently
wrote and produced along with editing its music video. It was his first song to chart on
the Billboard charts, garnering him worldwide attention and invitations to appear on TV

shows. He was also named the MTV Push Artist for October 2022. Following the song's
release, MTV UK asked Lawson to perform the song, which they posted onto YouTube. He
was also recognized by MTV Italia which he performed for as well.

"Golden Hour" debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 71 and peaked at number

10. It also reached number 19 on the UK Singles Chart. As of November 2022, the song has
had more than 100 million views across YouTube, TikTok and other social media platforms.

On November 17, 2022, he announced his first tour, taking in New York, Los Angeles
and other nationwide cities.

 On December 8, 2022, Lawson released "Hero", a collaboration with Martin
Garrix and the mobile card game Marvel Snap.

In 2023, Lawson was featured on the track "Angel Pt. 1", a song by NLE
Choppa and Kodak Black, and also featuring BTS's Jimin and Muni Long. The song is part of
the soundtrack of Fast X (2023).

to other songs, the lyrics of this song are more prominent because many fans can also feel the

ALBUM

JVKE's debut album is a collection of songs that document the cycle of a relationship.
Divided into 4 stages: falling in love, heartbreak, sadness, and moving on. JVKE combines
beautiful melodies, lyrics, and music production that depicts the experience of falling in love
that he himself has experienced. With a tracklist arranged according to these stages, JVKE
hopes to be able to depict a variety of different emotions in each part. JVKE boldly says that
this is his 'first and last album' so he hopes to break free from conventional expectations
regarding albums and music releases, for his next works, because he wants to be more
accessible to his listeners.

The golden hour song tells about the most beautiful meeting between JVKE and his
girlfriend. Meeting and seeing the lover he loved so much, seemed to be the pinnacle of
happiness that could not be described.

As we know, the most beautiful moments we have in life, one of which is when we
meet a lover that we love so much. Because through that meeting, romantic moments,
moments of togetherness, and unforgettable moments are created.

The word 'golden hour' itself, refers to a period when the sun rises or sets. a period
where the orange tinge is scattered, making the sky so beautiful. So the word 'golden hour'
can also be interpreted as 'the most beautiful time'. It is this word that JVKE tries to use to
describe the happiest moments with his lover.

The meaning or meaning of the song 'Golden Hour' feels like a time lapse, with all the
attention being given to someone very special. And JVKE also said that he wanted to capture
the emotion one feels when looking at something beautiful, where that feeling is the “golden
hour”.

For example, someone once said that if an ambulance was delivering or picking up
emergency patients, it was also called the "Golden Hour". Because the chance for the patient
to survive is in the first hour. Now that is the time between the life and death of the patient.

IMPRESSIONS AND OPINIONS

The song "golden hour" in my opinion stands out the most among the songs on the
same album or even on different albums. In fact, many on social media such as TikTok and
Instagram upload videos of sunsets or sunrises and even places with natural beauty in the
form of land and sea accompanied by the song "golden hour" because the musical instrument
is very beautiful with piano music played by JVKE himself.

And also basically the song does not always have the same meaning as the song, but
how people interpret the song and how people can enjoy the song comfortably and
wholeheartedly. And I hope everyone can enjoy and listen to the song "golden hour" and also
this song is highly recommended for many people to listen to.
Even though this golden hour song is not the best song in the pop genre but this
golden hour song is a song that makes my mood go up just by hearing the song. Real lyrics
with the terrible stories of fans that make this song even more alive.

OVERALL RATING AND FINAL COMMENTS

I give 9/10 for this album, in my opinion all the songs on this album are masterpieces.
But overall this song is very beautiful. There are many likes or happiness that are told in this
album, one of which is the pleasure that he enjoys in his life with someone he loves, who can
make him feel happy and excited to create beautiful and unforgettable moments. This song
deserves an award.
