Your mission:

With its research activities at the DLR sites in Cologne, Berlin, Göttingen and Trauen, the Institute of Propulsion Technology focuses on the development of high-
performance and environmentally friendly aircraft engines and gas turbines for power generation. The research includes both the development and application of
highly efficient methods and fast simulation procedures as well as the use of unique test benches and sophisticated measurement techniques. A core competence
of the turbine department at the Göttingen site is the investigation of turbines with regard to increasing efficiency, as well as questions concerning heat transfer
and the effectiveness of cooling methods. In addition, the interaction of components, such as the combustor with the turbine, plays an important role within the
future research.

The aim is to transfer technologies, such as gas turbine blade cooling, to other areas and to further develop and utilize findings. High-temperature fuel cells
appear to be very attractive for electric flight, but they require adequate thermal management in order to be used. Aspects such as weight and limited installation
space have to be considered in particular, which ultimately addresses the efficient design and use of heat transfer mechanisms.

Your tasks:

scientific investigation on concepts of new high-temperature heat exchangers for aeronautical application
definition, planning and execution of simulations for the design and optimization of heat exchangers

Your qualifications:

successfully completed university studies (diploma/master's degree) in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, physics or similar
proven knowledge in the field of numerical methods for flow simulation
proven knowledge in the field of aerodynamics, thermodynamics and heat transfer intensification
very good knowledge of German and English, both written and spoken
