Your tasks and responsibilities

Design, prototyping and analysis of algorithms for the geometric, radiometric and spectral processing of remote sensing data from space born
instruments (imager, radar, sounder)
Definition, Implementation and use of simulations models to generate representative data for the analysis of these algorithms, covering the scene of
observation, the instrument signal path and the relevant satellite characteristics
Establishment of specifications for the operational processing of satellite remote sensing data. This position requires the acquisition of an in depth
understanding and knowledge of the measurement principles of spaceborn remote sensing istruments and the related instrument and satellite induced
measurement distortions as well as the corresponding corrective data processing approaches. This applies the establishment of good working
relationships to Space System projects and the international scientific and engineering community.
In the mid term perspective, the successful candidate will have to understand customer's usage of the different remote sensing data products and the
resulting needs on the data content, quality and reliability.

Desired Skills And Qualifications

Master Degree in Engineering / Simulations, Modeling, Physics, Math, Aeorospace, Electrical or equivalent
Proven expertise in at least one of the following domains: Image Processing, Geometric data processing (geolocation, geodesy, Spectrometer Data
Processing, Hyperspectral Interferometry Processing, Earth Remote Sensing, Space Instrument Design and Performance
Broad physical and mathematical background
General knowledge in numerical modelling and simulation,
Knowledge and experiences in programming such as C++ and MatLab
Background in processes and standards in space industry is an asset
Software Engineering background is an advantage
In the frame of the design and development of processing methods and algorithms for data from spaceborn remote sensing instruments within satellite
projects:
Ability and enthusiasm to rigorously and reliably perform the detailled day-to-day design and analyses task.
Interest in data processing and analysis
Ability to integrate into a multinational team and to establish good relationships with international customers, subcontractors, laboratories and scientific
institutions
Motivation and Initiative to bring in ideas to further develop the field of data processing
