For the past three years, I have proudly served as your class president.
Throughout our entire high school career, I have dedicated hundreds of hours
and poured my heart into ensuring that everyone here has a memorable high
school experience. The highlight of our junior year was definitely prom. This fun
time was all made possible by my leadership as there were a lot of extensive
behind-the-scenes duties that you may not have been aware of that required

amassed funds of over $42,000. We’ve raised all this money through fundraisers
that Michael and I have planned such as the Flatbreads fundraiser or a killer

being average” I don’t want our senior year to be average. I want it to be special.
I want everyone here sitting in this auditorium to remember it for years to come. If

Reflection
This speech was the way it was solely because of the lessons I have learned in this class.
There are many rhetorical decisions I made, that helped sway my audience that I would’ve
never thought to do before this year. One aspect of a speech that I didn’t know mattered so
much was sentence structure. In my speech, I said, “I have booked the venue, I have booked
the DJ, Steak is on the menu”. I intentionally made my sentences short and concise in order to
effectively get my message across without it being ruined by other information. Doing this was
very powerful as conveyed a sense of efficiency. Furthermore, due to the fact that my audience
was high schoolers, I quoted Taylor Swift in order to establish a comical tone that would
