Good Afternoon Everyone,

I am Jeremy Barry and I am thrilled to be running for re-election as Class

President

For the past three years, I have proudly served as your class president.

Throughout our entire high school career, I have dedicated hundreds of hours

and poured my heart into ensuring that everyone here has a memorable high

school experience. The highlight of our junior year was definitely prom. This fun

time was all made possible by my leadership as there were a lot of extensive

behind-the-scenes duties that you may not have been aware of that required

many hours of work.

I was willing to put in the work then and I will continue to put in the work as

long as I serve as your President.

Throughout my first three years, under my leadership, our class has

amassed funds of over $42,000. We’ve raised all this money through fundraisers

that Michael and I have planned such as the Flatbreads fundraiser or a killer

bake sale where we drummed up 50+ donations from local shops.

And thanks to our efforts I am happy to announce that Senior Prom will

be free of charge!!

The planning is underway. I have booked the location. I have booked the

DJ. Steak is on the menu.

In addition, many other senior week activities are in the works and I can

guarantee they will be a blast. Things are getting done under my leadership and

let's keep this momentum going!!!!

Being Class President for three years now, I can confidently say this position

requires lots of experience. My experiences as class president have taught me

valuable lessons that can’t be taught overnight allowing me to have a wealth of

knowledge and connections that no other candidate can have. I mean, who else

has Mr. Wulf on speed dial?

There is definitely a reason why the last 6 Senior Class Presidents at NHS were

all class officers before their senior year. There is a certain level of experience

required for a Class President to be successful and if you don’t have any

experience, it is the same as electing a freshman to be senior class president.

This is it! Our senior year. If there is any year you will remember from High

School it’ll be this one. As Taylor Swift once said, “I’m, intimidated by the fear of

being average” I don’t want our senior year to be average. I want it to be special.

I want everyone here sitting in this auditorium to remember it for years to come. If

you vote for me I will stop at nothing to ensure that this year is nothing short of

memorable and extraordinary. Vote Jeremy Barry for Class President. One More

Year.
Reflection

This speech was the way it was solely because of the lessons I have learned in this class.

There are many rhetorical decisions I made, that helped sway my audience that I would’ve

never thought to do before this year. One aspect of a speech that I didn’t know mattered so

much was sentence structure. In my speech, I said, “I have booked the venue, I have booked

the DJ, Steak is on the menu”. I intentionally made my sentences short and concise in order to

effectively get my message across without it being ruined by other information. Doing this was

very powerful as conveyed a sense of efficiency. Furthermore, due to the fact that my audience

was high schoolers, I quoted Taylor Swift in order to establish a comical tone that would

ultimately resonate with my audience.
