Differences and similarities between Javanese and Sundanese culture

The Javanese and Sundanese are located in the same area, namely the island of
Java itself, but they are different from each other and even have a not good enough
relationship. In Java itself there is also a myth that it is forbidden to marry between
Javanese and Sundanese because their culture is different. But then, because of the
Sundanese and Javanese tribes are both in the land of Java, many people refer to the
two tribes as siblings, Javanese as older brothers and Sundanese as younger brothers.
There are many more differences and similarities from this Sundanese and Javanese
culture.
The first difference is about the origin of the Sundanese and Javanese tribes.
Quoted from Quora.com, Java comes from the word Yava (Sanskrit) which means
barley/grain plant. Of course, this leads to the name of the island of Yavadwipa which
we now refer to as the island of Java. The center of Javanese civilization is near the
fertile active mountains. Sunda comes from the word Sunda (Sanskrit) which means
luminous. This leads to the character of the skin of the Sundanese who are very white
compared to immigrants from Chola, India and their neighbors, the Javanese. This is
because the center of Sundanese civilization is in the highlands, and these people
generally have lighter skin.
