INTRODUCTION
MOX CLAV DROPS contains Amoxicillin and Clavulanic acid,
which belong to the group of medicines called Penicillin and Beta-
Lactamase Inhibitors. It is used in children for the treatment of
various bacterial infec!ons such as respiratory tract infec!ons
(such as pneumonia), urinary tract infec!ons (cys!!s, urethri!s,
pyelonephri!s), bone and joint infec!ons, middle ear infec!ons
(o!!s media), tonsilli!s, sinusi!s, skin, and so$ !ssue infec!ons
such as celluli!s, animal bites, dental infec!ons (severe dental
abscess), etc.
MOX CLAV DROPS is not recommended for use in pa!ents with
severe kidney impairment, history of liver problems or jaundice
a$er taking penicillin an!bio!cs. MOX CLAV DROPS should be
used with cau!on in pa!ents suffering from glandular fever (viral
infec!on causing sore throat, high fever, swelling of salivary
glands, etc), liver disease, kidney disease, who are not passing
urine daily.
MOX CLAV DROPS is not recommended for use in pregnant
women unless clearly necessary. MOX CLAV DROPS should be
used with cau!on in breas%eeding women as it may pass through
breastmilk. MOX CLAV DROPS should be used with cau!on in
neonates and infants less than 12 weeks of age. Consult your
doctor before taking MOX CLAV DROPS. The most common side
effects a$er taking MOX CLAV DROPS are vomi!ng, diarrhoea,
nausea, thrush (fungal infec!ons) etc. Consult your doctor
immediately if your symptoms get worse or persist.

HOW MOX CLAV DROPS WORKS


MOX CLAV DROPS help in trea!ng bacterial infec!on where
Amoxicillin works by inhibi!ng penicillin binding proteins (which
are involved in the synthesis of bacterial cell wall) leading to
ac!va!on of autoly!c enzymes in the bacterial cell wall.
Therefore, leading to lysis of the cell wall and death of bacterial
cell and Clavulanic acid inhibits the ac!vity of bacterial enzymes
known as beta lactamases. As a result, it enhances the
an!bacterial ac!vity of amoxicillin.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE


Take MOX CLAV DROPS as advised by your physician. Shake the
medicine well before every use. Avoid contamina!ng the dropper.
Your doctor will decide the exact dose and dura!on of treatment
for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease
condi!on.

SIDE EFFECTS OF MOX CLAV DROPS

COMMON
Diarrhoea
Thrush (candida fungal infec!on)
Vomi!ng and nausea

UNCOMMON
Rashes, itching, hives (raised itch rashes)
Ur!caria
Dizziness, headache
Indiges!on
Abnormal liver enzymes

RARE

raised spots on skin due to inflamma!on of blood
vessels
Watery diarrhoea with blood or mucus, fever,
abdominal pain which occurs due to inflamma!on of
large intes!ne
Inflamma!on of liver (hepa!!s), jaundice (yellowing of
white part of eyes, nails, skin paleness)
Inflamma!on of kidney tubes
Delayed blood clo&ng
Hyperac!vity
Convulsions (fits) most commonly experienced by
pa!ents suffering from kidney disease
Black hairy tongue

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS


Nausea, vomi!ng:
Take the medicine, before meals. S!ck to simple meals. Avoid
ea!ng oily or spicy food however, contact your doctor if your
symptoms get worse or persist.
Itchy skin:
Avoid hot showers because hot water can irritate the skin and do
not scratch the affected area. Apply moisturizing cream,
Sunscreen and use protec!ve clothing. Contact your doctor if
your symptoms get worse or persist.
Stomach pain:
Try to rest and relax. Eat small meals but take frequently. Keep a
heat pad on your stomach. Contact your doctor if your symptoms
get worse or persist.
Diarrhoea:
Drink plenty of water or fruit juices to keep you hydrated. Don’t
take any medicine on your own to treat diarrhoea. Contact your
doctor if your symptoms get worse or persist.
Headache:
Rest and relax. Drink plenty of water and electrolytes. Apply a
pain-relieving balm on the head if required. Contact your doctor if
your symptoms get worse or persist.

WARNING & PRECAUTIONS

PREGNANCY
MOX CLAV DROPS is not recommended for use in
pregnant women unless clearly necessary. Consult your
doctor before taking MOX CLAV DROPS.

BREASTFEEDING
MOX CLAV DROPS should be used with cau!on in breast
feeding women as it may pass through breastmilk. Consult
your doctor before taking MOX CLAV DROPS.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES


Do not drive or operate machinery a$er taking MOX
CLAV DROPS.

KIDNEY
MOX CLAV DROPS is not recommended for use in
pa!ents with severe kidney impairment. Consult your
doctor taking MOX CLAV DROPS.

LIVER
MOX CLAV DROPS is not recommend for use in pa!ents
who had history of liver problems or jaundice a$er taking
penicillin an!bio!cs. Consult your doctor before taking
MOX CLAV DROPS.

ALLERGY
Do not take MOX CLAV DROPS if you are allergic to
Amoxicillin, Clavulanic acid, or any other ingredients in this
medicine.

OTHERS
Before taking MOX CLAV DROPS inform your doctor if
you have:

Glandular fever (viral infec!on causing sore throat, high


fever, swelling of salivary glands etc)
Not been urina!ng regularly
Urine and blood tests

Use in paediatrics:
MOX CLAV DROPS should be used with cau!on neonates
and infants less than 12 weeks of age. Consult your doctor
before giving MOX CLAV DROPS to your child.

INTERACTIONS
A. Drug-Drug interac!ons:
Before taking MOX CLAV DROPS, inform your doctor if you are
taking any of the following medicine:

Medicines used to treat gout (Ex. allopurinol, probenecid)


Medicines used to treat blood clots (Ex. warfarin)
Methotrexate (used for the treatment of cancer, severe
psoriasis)
Medicine used to prevent organ transplant rejec!on (Ex.
Mycophenolate mofe!l)
Medicines used for preven!on of pregnancy (oral
contracep!ves)

Overdosage:
In case you or anybody else accidently take too much of MOX
CLAV DROPS then consult your doctor immediately or visit the
nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose of MOX CLAV DROPS
are nausea, diarrhoea, fits, disturbed fluid and electrolyte balance,
crystalluria which may cause kidney failure.
