SUMMARY
This report was to describe the spending habit among ACAF120 students.
The main findings were that the majority income of students come from part time/ full time jobs
It was concluded that their spending habit was influenced mostly by the outside factors.
The recommendations are that ACAF120 students should learn how to improve their financial
management skills.

INTRODUCTION
1. Purpose
The purpose of this report is to analyze the spending habit of ACAF120 students and to
find out their source of income, their monthly spending habit, the factors that influence
their spending habit and provide some suggestion to improve their financial management.
2. Scope
The report examines students in the ACAF120 class. It does not examine all students in
UEB-VNU students because research in a small range can help the students get the
information exactly about the students point of view in their spending habit.

The information for this report was gathered from the following sources:

FINDINGS
I. Data collection
In order to find out the students’ evaluation on spending habit, the questionnaire was used
as an instrument to help getting fast and accurate result and easy creating charts. The
questionnaire has 7 questions, from 1 to 7 are the multiple choice questions, in questions
number 1 and 7 include an open ended choice for students to answer with their own
opinions.

The bar chart demonstrates where their monthly income from. Students get their funds
from Allowance from family and Part time, full time jobs are higher than other sources.

with only 12% and no pupil gets finances from their boyfriend or girlfriend.

The pie chart indicates how much money students have on a month. Overall, the
proportion of students have From 2 millions VND to less than 4 millions VND is 52%,
being the highest. Followed after that is Less than 2 millions VND with 24% and From 4
millions VND to less than 6 millions VND with 20%. Meanwhile the percentage of
students having More than 6 millions VND is the least, only 4%.

The pie chart illustrates the percentage of how much students spend in an average month (
excluding their school tuition fee). Students spending From 2 millions VND to less than 4
millions VND occupied the highest proportion, which is 56%. The following is pupil
spend Less than 2 millions VND with 28% and From 4 millions to less than 6 millions
with 12%. Meanwhile those who spend More than 6 millions VND only take 4%.

The pie chart shows the percentage of money students can save in a month. It is evident
that students saving Less than 10% and From 10% to less than 30% is equal with 40%.

The bar chart indicates students’ choice of suggestions to improve their financial

The main conclusion that can be drawn is therefore that most of ACAF120 students have their
sources of income from allowance of family and part time, full time jobs. Besides, the spending
habit of them is average from 2 millions VND to less than 4 millions VND, mostly on health-

care, groceries, clothes and shoes. In addtition, three main factors that influence their spending
habits are: parents give more or less money, sale events from shopping apps and unexpected
events like wedding or birthday. In a month, students often save less than 10% or from 10% to
less than 30% of money from their budget. To sum up, it is necessary to improve one’s own
financial management skills, the solution to financial problems are to avoid unnecessary
spending, have a vision for your budget and look carefully to find the best value of the products.
From these conclusions, it is therefore recommended that this analysis focus on the income and
the spending habits of Foreign Trade Univeristy students with the statistical method combined
with tables, charts and graphs. According to the graph, mainly students are supported 1-2 millions
VND a month. Female students are mainly supported in the range of 1-2 millions VND, while
male students are provided in the range of 2-3 million VND. The percentage of male students
who receive more than 3 millions VND a month from their family is higher than the rate of
female students. Statistics show that students have an average monthly expenditure of 1-2
millions VND. In general, in terms of spending habits, female students spend more than male
students, however, there is a difference in the percentage of students who spend more than 3
millions VND a month, the percentage of female students with this spending level much less than
