The Journey of Lily The Hunter

Once, there was a world called Luna where magic, fairytales and miracle exist. However, as
fairytale exists, so does the demons and monsters that make humans tremble in fear. This story
takes place in that world, in a small town located at the border of the kingdom called Arkham,
where a female hunter named Lily lives. Lily is one of the hunters that stays in the town. She
usually spends her time hunting animals but sometimes she will participate in the quest to
subjugate monsters
“Hey, that is a big boar you got there Lily, I guess we don’t have to worry about money for
a while. The time when you will surpass this old frail man is near,” says Jack while laughing as he
watches Lily carrying a dead wild boar that is almost as big as a healthy man.
“Come on dad, you are still as healthy as a bull. Plus no one in the town can defeat you
anyway. You are the strongest person in the village and you said that you are an old frail man?
Whom are we kidding here,” says Lily. After saying that she put her bow right on the porch and
goes to prepare the boar. She takes a knife and skins the boar to sell the fur.
Suddenly, they hear the bell ringing three times indicating an emergency is happening and
all hunters, adventurers and guards need to gather at the town plaza. As fast as lightning, Lily
grabs her bow and arrows while Jack goes inside the house and takes out his broadsword. They
run as fast as they could to the town plaza and as they arrives, there are already around 50 people
waiting for explanation and orders from the officials. A few minutes later, a man walks up onto the
stage and announces that there is a monster swarm that might be dangerous for the town. After
hearing the announcement, most people start talking with each other. Lily could hear some even
suggest that they pack their luggage and get out of the town. Jack and Lily, on the other hand,
start walking straight to the adventurer’s guild building and have no intention to run away as the
town is their home and all people they know and cherish live in that town.
After a few minutes, most of the adventurers and hunters including Lily and Jack have
arrived at the adventurer’s guild building. Suddenly, a tall, muscular man appears from the second
floor of the guild building.
“Listen, folks, I know some of you guys are unsure about participating in this sudden quest
but we are the only hope that this town has so I hope you guys will cooperate and save this town
together with me. First of all, I want 3 hunters to scout the monster swarm for us. I want Jack and
2 other hunter that is familiar with the forest to do the scouting for me. Second, when the monsters
arrive, I want fighters to be our vanguard. Archers and mages, I want you guys to support the
fighters. Mages, I want you guys to preserve your mana and only use spells that are effective
against the monsters. Lastly, I want all healers in the rear and preserve your mana. Heal those
who are seriously injured only. We will depart shortly after the scouts. That is all for now. The 3
hunters that will go for scouting will have to see me first in my office,”
After saying that, the guild master goes to his office. As Lily was about to say something
to her dad, Jack says that he will not take Lily on the scouting mission and will go with his friends
instead. Lily feels upset but understands that his father is worried about her and doesn’t want to
put her on a dangerous mission. Before her father departs, she meets her father and says,
“Be careful dad, and make sure to come back safely,” in a worried tone.
“Don’t worry, I’m not that rusty yet. Hahaha,” Jack says.
The scouting team depart while others which is the attacking team stay for a while to
prepare themself. After about half an hour, the attacking team depart from the guild building. They
march together like ants following the trail that the scout team left prior before. The journey is
quite difficult as they are marching accompanied by the rain making the path muddy and the rain
makes their stamina quickly deplete. Suddenly, their march comes to a halt. They found a pair of
boots and traces of fighting on their path. Upon hearing that, Lily quickly rush to see the scene.
She is shocked as she recognises a pair of shoes on the ground.
“That is my father’s shoes. I bought the shoes myself and give them to him as a gift for his
birthday,” says Lily. Her heart rate increased and her mind wander about her father's safety and
condition. All of the adventurers' and hunters’ face becomes pale as the strongest man in the
town is currently missing and the clues he left behind were only a pair of shoes and marks of
fighting. A gloomy atmosphere can be felt coming from the group especially since there are hints
of fear on their face.
“Then we must hurry and save them. Let’s hurry up” the guild master says.
They proceed with their march and increase their pace. A few minutes later they can see
the monster swarm. In the centre of that swarm is a man wearing a black hood. A black miasma
and aura cover the swarm and it thickens out as it reaches the centre. As they observe more on
the swarm, they found out that the scouting team is laying on the ground right in front of the man
with the black hood. The guild master gives out his signal and instructs all of the team members
to take their positions. Then the guild master blows out a horn signalling them to attack. The
monsters were startled and so does the hooded man, giving an advantage to the attacking team.
The attacking team rush quickly and slays all the monsters in front of them. Melee weapon hunters
rush and slay the monsters while the hunters shoot their arrows and the mages fire all kinds of
spells to support them. Lily covers the vanguard by firing her arrows. She run to find a strategic
spot and find one where the spot help her get a clear sight of the centre where her father and the
rest of the scouting team were placed by the hooded man. There, she gets a better view and sees
that there is a statue right behind the hooded man. There is a shiny gem located in the middle of
the statue and Lily believes that the statue needs to be destroyed as the black miasma comes
out from the statue.
“There is a statue in the centre! We must destroy that statue!” says Lily. Not even ten
minutes later, the attacking team have almost reached the centre of the swarm. As the team
advance, they create an opening and Lily sees that opening as an opportunity to destroy the
statue. Lily pulls her arrow and gathers all the mana that she can to shoot the arrow. Then, she
releases her arrow and it flies straight to the statue while glowing brightly. A few seconds later, a
loud crack can be heard followed by a scream made by the hooded man.
“No! I only need a few minutes to summon the Demon lord. It is all your fault. You will pay
for this,” says the hooded man. A few bombardments of fire spells fired to the centre and almost
hit the hooded man. Seeing that he is in a bad position, he grabs Jack and tears up a scroll.
“I will see you again and have my revenge. I will go to the land beyond the sea and you
will never find me,” the hooded man shout while laughing. A bright light flashes and the hooded
man and Jack disappear. As they disappear, all the monsters run away and scatter. The attacking
team shout and cheers for their victory. However, Lily’s face is filled with sadness. The attacking
team help their comrades to go back to the town. They celebrate their victory throughout the night.
“I swear I will find and save you, dad,” Lily says to herself while staring at the moon that
night.
The next day, the guild master calls Lily to his office.
“Yesterday, before disappearing with your dad the hooded man shout that he will go to a
land beyond the sea. I believe that if you sail and go on a journey, you will find your dad. I hope
you will find him as he is also a dear friend of mine and I wish the best for his safety,” the guild
master says to Lily. After that, the guild master gives Lily a pouch filled with coins and a ticket for
a ship. Lily takes the reward and goes straight to the port to board the ship. As the ship starts
sailing, Lily swears to herself that she will find and save her dad starting her journey with a
determination that will never waver.
