Results presentation – frequency distribution
Table 1 shows the results of the respondents’ opinions on which social status factors motivate green purchases. The
strongly agree and agree categories were combined into one category and the strongly disagree and disagree
categories were combined into one category to make the analysis more meaningful.

Results discussion- frequency distribution
As can be seen in Table 1, with regards to social status, just over half of the respondents agree that their self-image as
a morally responsible person is enhanced (55%) and that they set a good example for others if purchasing green
products and services. About one third of the respondents (31%) were undecided (neutral) whether their self-image as
a morally responsible person is enhanced by purchasing green products and services.

Many respondents (42%) disagree that they purchase green products and services for status reasons and just over a
third (35%) agree that they do buy green products and services for status reasons and about a quarter (23%) were
undecided how they feel about it. The respondents were having mixed responses whether they purchase green
products and services to be regarded as a first adopter with about one third agreeing (32%), neutral (35%) and
disagree (33%). The same views were expressed for buying green products and services because they only want to
purchase the best with about one third agreeing (30%), neutral (36%) and disagree (34%).

Most respondents (78%) agree that they purchase green products and services because they only buy expensive
products with only a few (2%) being undecided and about a fifth (20%) disagreeing.

As can you see in the discussion the likewise results are grouped
together when discussing it.

Results discussion – mean and SD
As can be seen in Table 2, when considering the mean, respondents tend to agree on average that they purchase
green products for status reasons and as they only purchase expensive products. However, respondents are undecided
as to whether they purchase green products and services because they only purchase the best products/services,
wanted to be regarded as a first adopted, enhanced their self-image as a morally responsible person or because
they set a good example for others.

As can you see in the discussion the likewise results are grouped
together when discussing it.

The standard deviations indicate there was much variation in responses for all statements, as they can be rounded to
one or exceed the value one.
