Introduction

A wrench or spanner is a tool used to provide grip and

mechanical advantage in applying torque to turn objects
usually rotary fasteners, such as nuts and bolts or keep them from turning. The most common
shapes are called open-ended spanner and ring spanner. The term wrench is generally used for
tools that turn non-fastening devices (e.g., tap wrench and pipe wrench).

Higher quality wrenches are typically made from chromium-vanadium alloy tool steels and are
often drop forged. They are frequently chrome-plated to resist corrosion and for ease of cleaning.

Types

 Open-end wrench

 Box-end wrench

 Combination wrench

 Ratcheting box wrench

 Tube wrench

 Flex-head socket wrench

Steps Involved in Sand Casting of a Spanner

Step #1) Place Mold Pattern in Sand.

Step #2) Set Up the Gating System
Step #3) Remove the Mold Pattern
Step #4) Pour Molten Metal into Mold Cavity
Step #5) Wait for Metal to Cool
Step #6) Break Open Mold to Remove the Metal Casting.
Conclusion

In this lab project we made the spanner or wrench using sand casting. First, we made the design
of a spanner using AutoCAD software. Then, we take spanner to do its sand casting we perform
various steps to make the sand casting of spanner as mentioned in this report. After sand casting
we cut the unnecessary parts using hacksaw and file the remaining part using filers. At last, we
use finishing paper sheet. Silicone Finishing Sheets creates a softer feel to your transfer by
allowing emulsion from transfer paper to set to the fiber weave of your garment and adds to
overall wash durability. Silicone Finishing Sheets can be used with light and dark fabric transfer
papers. Finally, our project was made and ready to represent.
