Information MBC J29 Surge Signal Interference

GENERAL
This SI is intended to provide guidance in regards to what appear to be elevated analog values displayed by the
OptiView Panel. The signals causing this are generated on the Cable 19 harness by the MBC Control Board stall sig-
nal. This harness is connected to the OptiView Panel Microboard on the J7 connector and the MBC Control Board
J29 connector. The MBC stall signal can generate a voltage that can bleed over to other wires on this harness and
may cause the microboard 5VDC circuit to elevate which may compromise any of the analog signals that enter the
microboard resulting in incorrect displayed analog values.

Solution
The solution to this signal noise is to remove the conductors between J29 and J7 that transmit this signal. This will
isolate the remaining conductors from the effects of this signal noise.
Inside the OptiView panel the Microboard J7 cable connector, pins 16 and 3, will be removed from the J7 housing
and cut back at the cable insulating jacket.
The MBC side of the same cable the MBC Control Board J29 connector, pins 13 and 3, will be removed from the
J29 housing and cut back at the cable insulating jacket.
In the control panel on the Microboard, verify JP22 is on Pins 1 and 2.

Verification
Verification of existing harness can be done by verifying the J7 16/3 and J29 13/3 pins are not installed in the re-
spective housings.

Special Tools
The extraction tool for the J29 conductors is Molex PN 11-03-0004.
