A Historical figure that resembles my personality
People is a social being by their nature and I am not an exception from
them. People have a common psychological intention that one will always follow a person as
their idol, who has some historic importance otherwise gain so much name and fame at their
period. Like others I have chosen one person as my idol because of his contributions towards
his motherland as well as, I think I have so many similarities with him. My idol is “Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman”. He was the founding father of Bangladesh and a great political leader. He
served as first president of independent Bangladesh from 1972 until his assassination in 1975
(Mughal,2016). Moreover, he was the nation’s first prime minister, he also presided over
Bangladesh transition to multi-party democracy, the adaption of a secular, socialist,
constitution, and the restoration of basic human rights (Mughal,2026). He is widely referred
to in Bangladesh as “Bangabandhu” (Friend of Bengal). As I have already chosen him my
idol, for that a lot of his quality knowingly or unknowingly developed in myself. Below I will
point out five most vital characteristic of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman which have developed in
my personality.

1) Nationalism: Like Mujibur Rahman, I strongly believe that a nation should be

independent, liberal, and the government should be elected democratically for the
people by the people. Which can play a vital role to develop a nation. That is why, I
always believe in democracy, and I would like to be the person who raise voice any
national issues arrive in any situation. I also respect other nation and their culture so
that they would also be respectful towards ours.

2) Leadership: I am developing leadership skills so that I can develop my community

and guide our native in any situation. My friends use to tell me that, if I work as a
team or any other responsibilities, I always make myself standing by my principles
and make sure all work is smoothly done and my team-members are always on the
safe side. Which is why I believe, I would be a great leader like him, and one day I
would lead my nation towards prosperity, development, and reach them to the peak of
the civilization.

3) Equality: I wholeheartedly believe in equal rights and opportunities for everyone;

regardless of background, language, gender, sexuality, or religion. I treat a person like
a human being, and I will always try my level best to ensure that I am doing justice
equally towards everyone. I also learn that Mujibur Rahman was so kind since his
childhood, and he also believe in equality and helped people in need according to his
ability. However, I also try do so. For an example, in the Covid-19 period I work as a
volunteer to help people get their food or groceries at home safely, who were in the
need at that time.

4) Social Reform: As we know ‘Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’ reform the society assuring
every citizen get the equal human rights, respect and social benefit. I have also tried to
make some contribution towards my society. Such as, at my locality me along with
my friends reform a group, which always stand against eve teasing, drug addiction
and child abuse. Moreover, we inspired youth to involve themselves into sports,
meditation and others social activities, where I can see myself following
Bangabandhu’s footsteps.

5) Passion: Like Rahman, I have a passionate commitment to justice, and I strive to

pursue my goals with determination and resilience. My another passion is competing
myself with my own, which drives me to be better than before. For this reason, I am
always in the best focus and concentration. I strongly believe nothing is impossible in
this world. With proper dedication one can achieve his/her goal, Sheikh Mujib set an
example of that, he made his dream (independent Bangladesh) come into reality with
his hard work and strong dedication with the help of Bangladeshi people.

Eventually, I would like to admit that I can find a proper reflection of ‘Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman’ in me. I strongly believe that one day I could be a great leader like him, and I
would give my hundred percent to develop my nation, where I can find my characteristic
fully resembling with ‘Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’, father of the nation of Bangladesh.
