I replaced the rotary switch with a variable L-Pad for fine tuning
the output. That numbs the sound a little bit, but if you just use it
for fine tuning it's hardly noticeable.
The first stage makes the amp a bit more quiet, but not very much.
When you kick in the second stage it goes much quieter, perfect for
playing it cranked at home without disturbing the neighbours. And
if you use the variable L-Pad you'll get it down to a whisper, or
even dead quiet.

Nice build. How does it sound? the variable L-pad probably gives a
different tone at low volume than the stepped values that I worked

Thanks, and many thanks for your effort developing and giving this
attenuator design to other DIYers!
It sounds great, and the Variable L-Pad kills the sound a bit, most
noticeably it takes away high frequencies and makes the sound a
bit duller. But I find that using it around halfway has an inaudible
Tele-Aicted effect on the tone. And playing at very low volume it doesn't

use the variable L-Pad.
I find the scaled down power handling of the resistors I used is fine

for the 12-15 watt Deluxe. (L1 Ø 0.50mm, R1 & R2a 25W, R2b &
R4 10W & R3 5W). I played the amp cranked for about 10 minutes
with both stages engaged, and the resistors were just a bit warm,
not even near as warm as the power transformer.
