    SLED CHARGES FORMER CAMDEN POLICE DEPARTMENT OFFICER WITH


    ASSAULT AND BATTERY AND MISCONDUCT IN OFFICE

    Agents with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged James Christopher
    Steele, 50, of Bethune, SC, on June 7, 2023, with Assault and Battery in the 2nd Degree and
    Misconduct in Office.

    Details can be found in the attached warrants.

    Steele was booked at the Kershaw County Detention Center.

    The case will be prosecuted by the 5th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
