Harry and the music competition

A2  Flyers
Harry loved singing. He was already quite good at playing the guitar and
wanted to have piano and violin lessons, too. Last week, Harry’s music
teacher, Mr Kite, told the students about a competition. Anyone could
enter. Students could sing or just play their favourite tune.

‘It will be on Saturday, March 18th in the Queen’s Theatre. The first prize will
be ten lessons on the instrument you like the most!’ Mr Kite said.
It was only March 4th, so Harry had two weeks to practise. Every

evening, he tried to choose a special song to sing. It was difficult but two
days before the competition, he heard a song on his grandmother’s radio
that he really loved. He found it online. He listened to it again and again
and practised it a lot. When he went up on the stage to sing his song,
Harry was worried. ‘Will I forget the words?’ he thought. But he didn’t
and he sang very well.
