1. History of swimming?

- Ancient Times: There are depictions of the people swimming in ancient Egyptian, Greek,
and Roman art, as well as written references to swimming in ancient literature. In fact,
Greeks made swimming an integral part of their physical education system, and it was
even a mandatory skill for the soldiers.

- Middle Ages: During the middle ages, swimming became less popular, as people become
more concerned with survival and less interested in recreational activities.

- Renaissance: With the Renaissance came a renewed interest in the arts and physical
fitness, and swimming become popular again, particularly among wealthy

- 18th Century: Swimming as a sport began to develop in the 18th century, with organized
swimming competitions taking place in England and United States.

- 19th Century: The first swimming stroke to be developed was the breaststroke, which
became the dominant stroke in swimming competitions until the early 20 th century. The
front crawl, also known as freestyle, was developed in the late 19 th century.

- 20th Century: Swimming continued to grow in popularity throughout the 20th century,
and new swimming stroke were developed, such as the backstroke and the butterfly.
Swimming became an Olympic sport since 1896, and has been a part of every Summer
Olympics since.

2. In your view of point what do you think is the importance of swimming as a student?

- As a student, swimming is important for us because it provides a unique combination of


physical exercise, water safety skills, and opportunities for socialization and recreation,
all of which can contribute to healthy and well-rounded lifestyle.
