Since we are having a progressive face to face class always follow
the safety protocols.

Solutions: The use of Slides in discussion
1. Number of classes or interval = 6 would be helpful for the learners
2. Range = H-L with disabilities specially, those with
poor eyesight.

Very good class! I believe that you are now ready for a new lesson so
sit back, relax and have fun learning!
Here are the learning objectives:
• Identify the different kinds of graphs.
• Give examples of each kind of graphs and their uses in real-life
situation.
These learning objectives are derived from the Most Essential Learning
Competency which uses appropriate graphs to represent organized data;
pie chart, bar graph, line graph, histogram and ogive.

I distributed a digital and hardcopy of your activity sheets for two weeks
last Monday, so I’m sure you already read our lesson. I’ll send you the link
to the explainer video and Powerpoint presentation as an additional
learning resource later. It will help you understand the lesson about the
different kinds of graphs. For those students who want a copy of the
explainer video I can directly share it with you through a flashdrive, ShareIt,
or via bluetooth. For those students who cannot read smaller fonts, you can
zoom in and out the activity sheet. You can send me a direct message as
well if you want printed copies with a large font.
D. Motivation
Before we proceed to our lesson, let’s Listen first to the lyrics of the
song “This is why I Graph” and identify the different kinds of graphs being
mentioned in the song.

E. Development of the lesson

Discussion of the different kinds of graphs and their uses.
(Explainer video)

Let us begin your journey…

Four kinds of simple graphs and their Uses
Line Graph – is used to show changes between two quantitative
data.Usually, one of the quantitaive data under consideration is time.Line
graphs comprises of x-axis and y- axis and in most cases, time is distributed
in the horizontal axis.Line graphs are used when you want to show trends. It
is also used when you want to make predictions based on a data history
over time and in comparing two or more different variables, situations, and
information over a given period of time.
Bar Graph- A bar graph represents categorical data with rectangular bars.
Bar graphs are among the most popular types of graphs and charts in
economics, statistics, marketing, and visualization in digital customer
experience. They are commonly used to compare several categories of data
or when you want to display data that are grouped into nominal or ordinal
categories. Bar graphs can also show large data changes over time which
are ideal for visualizing the distribution of data when we have more than
three categories.

In generalization, the best way

to do the generalization is to have it
in the form of questions to
summarize what you have learned
from the lesson.

Circle Graph or Pie Graph- when it comes to statistical types of graphs and
charts, the circle has a crucial place and meaning. It displays data and
statistics in an easy-to-understand “pie-slice” format and illustrates
numerical proportion.Circle graphs are used when you want to create and
represent the composition of something.
It is very useful for displaying nominal or ordinal categories of data.It is also
used to show percentage or proportional data, and
when comparing areas of growth within a business such as profit.

Pictograph- A pictograph uses picture symbols or icons to convey the

meaning of statistical information. It gives a quick comparison and present
data in an interesting manner. Pictographs should be used carefully
because the graphs may, either accidentally or deliberately, misrepresent
the data.
. Application of graphs in real life situations
A graph is a pictorial representation of data in an organized manner. Graphs
are usually formed from various data points, which represent the
relationship between two or more things. The important features of a graph
are the title of the graph and the two elements or variables that are being
analyzed. Graphs are visual non-verbal communication they are pictorial
representations of statistical and other kinds of information.
Here are some examples of graph uswd in different situations:

• Line Graph- Petroleum and diesel prices are rising in the UK have
soared since the start of 2021 and are close to hitting record high.
Rising prices at the pumps are one element of a growing cost of
living crisis, with families facing record inflation, tax increases and
soaring energy bills. Generally, as price increases, people are willing
to supply more and demand less and vice versa.
• AP 10 Q2 WEEK 5- Naipapaliwanag ang interaksyon ng demand at
supply sa kalagayan ng presyo ng pamilihan.

• Bar Graph-The Souteast Asian Games, also known as the SEA

Games, is a biennial multi-sport event involving participants from
the current 11 countries of Southeast Asia. The Philippine
emerged in the medal tally as the overall champion during the
2019 SEA GAMES, while in the recent 31st SEA GAMES the
Philippine team finished at fourth place at Hanoi, Vietnam.
• PE 8 Q1 WEEK 5- Assess regularly participation in physical
activities on the Philippine physical activity pyramid.
Main Causes of Climate Change

• Pie-Graph or Circle Graph-Climate change refers to long-term

shifts in temperature and weather patterns. Human activities have
been the main drive of climate change, primarily due to burning
fossile fuels like coal and gas. Burning fossil fuels generates
greenhouse gas emissions that act like a blanket wrapped around
the Earth trapping the sun’s heat and raising temperatures.
• Science 9 Q3 WEEK 6-7- Describes certain climatic phenomena that
occurs on a global level

• Pictograph- According to World Health Organization, Cancer is

one of the leading cause of death worldwide accounting for nearly
10 million deaths in 2020. lifestyles affect health and survival at all
ages. Millions odf people follow an unhealthy lifestyle which has a
significant influence on physical and mental health of human
being.
• HEALTH 8 WEEK 1- Analyzes the leading cause of morbidity and
mortality in the Philippines.

The use of graphs are very important in the desicion-making on the

different problems encountered by every individual, especially in the
fields of Statistics and Research,Science and Mathematics, Health and
Medicines, Businesses,Sales,Marketing, Finance, Stock
Exchange,Insurances,Sports and Entertainment and
Entrepreneurs.Through accurate graphs presented, people will be able to
analyze and be aware of the possible outcomes of a certain
circumstances.Every individual must have a sense of responsibility and
self-discipline for whatever outcomes they may encounter in their
lives, and take a shared desicion-making for their own benefits without
harmimg others as well as the environment.

D. Generalization:
• What are the four Kinds of Graph and give their uses?
• Cite at least one kind of graph you use in your daily activities and
explain why did you choose that kind of graph?
E. Evaluation:
• Identify which types of graph is applicable in presenting the
following sets of data.
1.Monthly Electric Consumption of a Local Resident for a 13
month period of time
2.A college student’s budget of 80,000 pesos for one semester
3.The Election results for President with their specific votes
4.Average weekly temperature in Alaminos City for 2 months
5.Value of Coconut Production in million pesos from 2015-
2020
6.Business profit of a small grocery store in thousand pesos
for 6 months
7.Types of transportation used by 1000 students in going to
school
8.Total sum of Sales for Product A and Product B over three
years
9.Numbers of Apples sold in a food store from January-April
10.Comparing sales of two kitchen appliance stores
IV.Assignment:
1.Construct your own graph about covid 19 pandemic.
2.Describe the following measures of central tendency;
Mean, Median and Mode.
