What does Biodiversity mean?

Biodiversity is the variety of species that exist: animals and plants. Bio means:
life and diversity means: a variety of something.

Peru is one of the richest countries in biodiversity. There are thousands of

habitats and ecosystems and millions of species of animals, plants, fungi and
insects. We need trees that clean our air and water. Animals and plants that
provide us with food, medicine and biofuels and insects that pollinate our
crops.
Peru is considered one of the megadiverse countries with
the greatest biodiversity on the planet.

Peru has more than 20,375 species of flora, 523
mammals, 1847 birds, 624 amphibians, 2145 species of
fish, 4000 species of butterflies and more than 4500
species of potatoes.
