The little lamb and the little fish

There were once two little brothers, a boy and a girl, who loved each other very much. His mother
had died. His father remarried, but his stepmother hated them and always tried to cause them all
the evil he could.

One day, the two brothers were playing in front of their house with other children, in a meadow.
There was a pond next to the meadow that reached to one side of the house. The children ran and
played to reach each other, and sang:

Duckling, love me a little bit, and I'll give you my little bird. The little bird will find me a straw; I will
give straw to my vaquita; the cow will give me rich milk; I'll give the milk to the baker; the baker
will bake me cakes; I will give the cakes to the kitten; the cat will hunt me mice; the mice will hang
them on the back ... and they will bite you !.

And they would run, and whoever got the word would bite him, he had to run so that the others
would chase him until they reached him.

The stepmother, seeing them from the window so happy, became angry and, as a witch, loved the
two little brothers, turning the boy into a fish, and the girl into a lamb. Thus, the fish was
swimming sadly in the pond while the lamb ran through the meadow, sad too. In this way, some
time passed.

One day strangers came to the palace, and the evil stepmother called the cook and said:

- Go to the meadow to look for the lamb and kill it, because we have nothing to offer the guests.
The cook came down, took the animal, and took it to the kitchen, tied with legs. But when the
man, taking out the knife, went out to the threshold to sharpen it, he noticed a little fish that, with
signs of great agitation, swam in front of the landfill and looked at it. It was the little brother, who,
seeing that the cook took the lamb, had come from the center of the pond.

Then the lamb flocked from above:

"Little brother who dwells in the pond, my poor soul, hurt and bleeding. Very soon the cook
without compassion, will stick the knife in my heart.

The little fish responded:

- Oh, little sister, you call me from above! My poor soul, hurt and bleeding in the deep waters of
the pond.

The lamb and the little fish When the cook heard the little lamb speak and address the saddest
words to the little fish, he became frightened and understood that it should not be a natural lamb,
but rather the victim of some spell of the bad witch of the house. He said then:

- Calm down, I will not kill you.

The cook took another animal, sacrificed it and served it to the guests. Then he led the lamb to a
good peasant, and explained to him how much he had heard and witnessed. It turned out that
precisely that peasant had been the nurse of the little sister, and, suspecting the truth, went with
the animal to a good fairy. She uttered a spell and both regained their human form. Then he took
them to a small house in a large forest, where they lived alone, but happy and content.
